Title: Scirocco from June '11 (pic heavy)
Post by: Rporteo on May 26, 2014, 08:05:35 pm
After introducing myself the other day I thought I'd do a bit of a write-up of what I've done to the car since getting it! If I'm not supposed to put a non Golf write up on this section, could a mod move it to the correct part for me please :happy2:

So here goes!!!!

Salsa Red Scirocco GT 2.0TDi 170, got a few factory options, DAB radio, Bluetooth (which they made standard about a month after I picked it up ) rear parking sensors and cruise control. Here it is waiting for me outside the showroom!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0196.jpg&hash=d93db4b31058530e173bae005f13031d3fa58f0a)

First thing I fitted were the stainless steel kick plates, got these from Hong Kong, they look much better than the OEM VW ones and were half the price!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0208.jpg&hash=58b3c694d75c7ef839c10f979139a1e50e5cb5f3)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0206.jpg&hash=0d0e00f49be275e06dcde3d58d9198e50d1512ea)

Next things I fitted were the sliding cup holder, big knob and the R pedals.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0240.jpg&hash=b1ee04dfc8f57352aa0979f77ce881f0e59e1271)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0241.jpg&hash=36f0c651161c62e442d5ed88c684d120bb8e9902)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_0238-1.jpg&hash=d69c0dbe27f68054e7bf77087df102a367f6308c)

Next thing I did was to get some 8mm red pinstripe which helped to break up the black on the front lower grille.

Then the VW badge on the front somehow changed itself to black  :o

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_3242.jpg&hash=13e9dde2b417f217b594d4c236558fa14ac56160)

and this was shortly followed by gloss black interior trim around the stereo, above the glovebox and either side of the steering wheel.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FSAM_0180.jpg&hash=9ecd7f324389ca46ac94781b7e44ed468828422d)

Then came a change of alloys and some darkened 'R' rear lights. Same wheels but these ones were powdercoated anthracite.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_3259.jpg&hash=5a3bb63f88455d55e257706cdee9506331f396dd)

Although I wasn't to happy with the alloys and have since changed them back to the original silver ones! And I love this picture, so any excuse to post it

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FDSC_0018.jpg&hash=c2f77db83d749853dadd200ebde8d5f0a46ec5a3)

Dectane DRL units were next to go on.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fad310%2Frobporteous_2009%2FIMG_1045.jpg&hash=91995f59aa11a5dd7dbd587ff11ae21cb6017791)

I wasn't too happy with the Dectanes so I changed them for these..

I also had the springs changed for ones off the Scirocco R, dropped the car about 20mm, not massive but enough for me :happy2:

Then a rather large boix came form Germany...

Great work  :happy2:

Have you activated needle sweep and XDS system?

Yup! And alarm beep and a few other tweeks too!

As for lowering more, that's enough for me I'm afraid, far too many potholes and speed bumps round here.

P.M me if you're interested.

H&R springs FTW

Had no issues with potholes or speed bumps with my Rocco on H&Rs. Makes a tremendous difference to the look, and the way it corners

Are the sideskirts genuine? Where did you get them from?
And where are the DRL's from that you ended up with? Look awesome, want a set for my Rocco.

Cheers. :happy2:

Side skirts arnt genuine and were from an eBay seller in Germany called funtuning. Less that half the price of genuine ones, if you get some don't use the tape supplied in them, it's pants!!! I ended up taking mine off and refitting them using tiger seal. Drl's were from a group buy on sciroccoownersnetwork a good few months ago.

Really nice car mate!

I'm looking to upgrade to a 'Rocco come time in the near future, although I think I might try and save my pennies a little more and go for an R-Line, like you I wanted to add the Skirts to the side but when I saw the OEM prices I almost died! Haha

These skirts fit really well, and hey come complete with the door section which quite a few eBay sellers don't give when you order them.

I had a quick look on that other company's website but they didn't have the side skirts listed only splitters for the various models.

Looks so much nicer.
I have the R line bumper on mine too. So expensive for such a small addition. but the fins make a massive difference to the look.

Ordered some sideskirts off the place you had yours from too. posted the same day  :happy2: :happy2:

Cheers Al!
I got the bumper fairly cheap but it was candy, only £80 for the colour change, remember don't use the tape on the skirts, it's pap!
