Title: Heated seats
Post by: ollie288 on October 20, 2009, 09:52:55 pm
Hi I fitted heated leather seats to my 1.6 fsi se golf a while a go. I bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350213500745&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:DE:1123 (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350213500745&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:DE:1123)
Same as my heater controls except they have the heated seat controller on the sides.
I need to get one of these:
http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p680_Kabelsatz-Sitzheizung-Golf-5-V.html (http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p680_Kabelsatz-Sitzheizung-Golf-5-V.html)
I am unsure of which selections I need. I contacted them but they were not much help. I need to now if mine is heating, climatic. I also need the lower back electrical adjustment.
Does anyone know what to select?
Cheers :happy2:

Purchased the harness and t arrived today. The only problem is this is what they have gave me for instructions. Could one of you clever people covert this to something I understand! :stupid: :signLOL:
Here they are:
Manual wiring heated seats Golf V until October 2006
Please disconnect the battery before starting installation.
Please wire the loom starting from the seats to the following connections:
Wire configuration:
Steady plus - Fuse box
Ignition plus - Fuse box
Double crimp - Control unit central electric Connector C – PIN 1
Wire with 2 looms - Climate control unit – 20-pole Connector
Driver site - PIN 10
Passenger site - PIN 11
Single loom - Climate control unit – 20-pole Connector – Pin 12
Opposite to ignition plus, Fuse box SC7
Ring terminal - Ground A-Column, driver site
After installation you need to code the control unit for central electric (address 09) to heated seats.

Where does it all go!!!?

Steady plus - Fuse box Constant feed
Ignition plus - Fuse box Ignition feed
Double crimp - Control unit central electric Connector C – PIN 1 This is the main control board under the dash fuse box
Wire with 2 looms - Climate control unit – 20-pole Connector This is behind the climatic control panel under the headunit
Driver site - PIN 10 Same as abov
Passenger site - PIN 11 Same as above
Single loom - Climate control unit – 20-pole Connector – Pin 12 Same as above
Opposite to ignition plus, Fuse box SC7 Wire goes to the Fuse box socket 7
Ring terminal - Ground A-Column, driver site Bottom of A pillar ground position
After installation you need to code the control unit for central electric (address 09) to heated seats. Code Cent Elec for heated seats

Sounds easy but prob take an hour or so.

Kufatec should have supplied you with a wiring colour diagram??? if not you may have to go onto there website and download it,  on your emails you will have a customer number and id number these will be your account details on kufatec so you can download your specific instructions.

Bringing this back up to help out people in the future...

Just accomplished the heated seats today in my rabbit... THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS is that where they tell you to put the "Driver site - Pin 10, Passenger site - Pin 11, and Single loom - Pin 12".....      Follow the original instructions ONLY IF you have Climatronic Climate Control. a.k.a. the "Digital" one. I installed this wiring harness to a "Climatic Climate Control", and after countless amounts of times of trial and error i finally figured it out. This is how it goes...

IF you have one of the following, go by these directions:

Climatronic:   Single loom - Climate control unit 20-pole connector Pin 12
                     Driver Site - Pin 10
                     Passenger Site - Pin 11

Climatic:        Single loom - Climate control unit 20-pole connector Pin 15
                     Driver Site - Pin 13
                     Passenger Site - Pin 12

If done correctly, follow the "Driver site" wire from the control unit you have just plugged it into, all the way down to the connector where the harness meets the seat. Hook a voltmeter to this wire at the connector. The higher you move the heated seat knob, the higher this voltage will get, only hitting about 8 volts at maximum....

My 2ps worth.

When i did mine i used the wiring guide from Kufatec, I marked up all the wires with tape before i started the install.

When id finished it all worked fine apart from the switches were round the wrong way, ie the drivers switch controlled the passenger side and visa versa.

Obviously the Kufatec guide i had was for a left hooker so bare that in mind and double check it before inserting those pins!

That reminds me does anyone know where i can get a pin removal tool from? I need to swap mine around!

you shouldnt need any special tools to switch the pins around. Just pull the 20-pin connector off the control unit, and the pins are held in place by a single clip. I used a small flat blade screw driver, and they pop right out!  :happy2:

I really want heated seats!

If I was to buy a Leather or ED30 interior which has heated seats, I take it I can just buy the Kufatec harness and the new climate panel with the heated seat buttons on?

Anyone near Essex who could help?

Cheers mate I appreciate that! Will take you up on that offer if you don't mind! Just gotta get the seats first ;) Hopefully soon!

I was going to order the Kufatec harness but im not sure which one to get?

Assuming everyone selects the extra 19 EUR option of 'adjustment' ? But there is
'Adjustment'
'Lordose'
'Adjustment/Lordose'
'Adjustment/Lordose/Memory' Which one is it lol!

Also, the bit it says select the year of construction.

Mine is a 2005, so assume I select 2005, however, what if the seats are from, say a 2008? Does that make any difference? Or if the climate panel (with the heated seat switches on) are from a later model?

its upto you what you get but basically if you go for the extra wonger all you get is an extra 2 wires on the harness for the electric lumber adjustment, has for the year just go with the year of your car.

No problem Shaun!

Check this link out, i used it when i did mine   http://furmanka.blogspot.com/2009/01/mk5-podgrzewane-siedzienia-heated-seats.html

After 2007 the plugs on the seat are different according to this guide??

I had heated seats with electric lumbar so went with heated + lordoose(sp)

Hello mate :)

If I manage to get the ED30 seats, then they have Electric lumbar so I will go with heated and lordose, although did you go for adjustment/Lordose ? or just Lordose? (or just adjustment) lol why do they have to make it so complicated! :p

Hmmm, I might hold off ordering the wiring harness until I get the seats, and know for sure what year the seats are from...

2007 Seats... Dilemma, which adaptor lol!
Title: Re: Heated seats
Post by: apollo13 on October 20, 2010, 11:32:55 pm
Sean,

'adjustment' is for electric adjustment of the seat in the forward and backward motion and rake of the backrest

'lordose' is the electric lumbar support

'memory' is obviously for the memory seat function

You, like me probably just have heating + electric lumbar (lordose)

I was told you need the loom that matches the age of your seats not the car, worked for me so up to you what you do there mate.

Call me if you need to know anything else.

Seat Heating - Harness - VW Golf 5
year of construction?: - 2007 Aircondition ?: - Climatronic Variations: - lordose 68,- eur 1 x Sub-Total: 68,- eur
DHL Europacket / DHL Express (Shipping to: GB : 3 lb(s)): 14,28 eur
incl. UST 19%: 13,14 eur
Total: 82,28 eur

Thanks mate, all ordered!

I will probably fit the seats first, and leave the wires dangling as I am clueless if it involves soldering or adding ring connectors etc on wires, if only they just plugged in to the rear of the climatronic unit, i'd be a happy man!

But the fusebox area wiring is where I will fail I think!

Its all plug and play mate! The only cock up i made was wiring the switches around the wrong way, ie drivers side turns on passenger side seat  :rolleye:  Its becsuse the guides i had were from europe and obviously for a left hooker!  No bother to switch around though, theyve been getting a bit of use the last couple of days too!! Not that its my behind being kept warm, im stuck in the van!!

Post by: SeanyK on October 21, 2010, 12:15:44 pm
Ohhh I see, so the plug meant for the passenger seat, I will put in the drivers seat?

Did you feed the wires through the center (under armrest area?)

Plug & Play sounds good to me I will give you a call when im setting up too mate,

Many thanks,

Sean
Title: Re: Heated seats
Post by: apollo13 on October 21, 2010, 03:52:28 pm
No!!!!!!!!

Not the plugs for the seats! There the right length to go to each seat, just swap them around at the climate control panel. Im only speaking from the diagram i used, yours may be different so youll need to check!  :happy2:

Im sure you can run it up the centre console but i ran mine up the drivers side sill (sp) trim fed the loom under the carpet to each seat. Then connected the earth to the point by the bonnet release and up pass the fuse box and cecm under the steering column and on to the climate panel.

Its easy just take your time.

Just a quick tip, put the wiring in before you put the seats back into the car when you change them over, that way you have access to the whole of the carpet area. If you put the seats in you will be trying to work around them?

Hi Darren,

Good tip, thats how i did mine but still a bit akward getting the loom under the carpet!

I found the loom was a little short when connecting up at the fuse box. Dont know if there all like that or just mine??
Iv heard some of the other kufatec looms are a little short.

Title: Re: Heated seats
Post by: mortygttdi on October 21, 2010, 07:35:53 pm
yeh the auto leveling is a joke, the wiring for the control module only reaches to the middle of the dash once connected to the fuse box and can bus, but the xenon control module should sit at the side of the glove box under the access panel.

I've had to extend a few now due to this, but I think kufatec actually do a service where you can specify what you need and how long with what connectors,

Surely if they are supplying looms they should be the right length  :stupid:

I had to unwrap some of it to get it to fit but even then it was tight!

Hey Darren do you know anyone thats got the spare buttons going on the mk6 wheel yet??

Lee.

by the way i repaired that highline

the only guys that are getting it working are the scirocco boys, but they are changing the instrument cluster to the new white display so its obviously some thing to do with that??

Glad you got it sorted mate its fiddley but worth it, do you get any faults on the instrument with vcds?

Ah ok, im getting a better picture of how it's done now, im half guessing at what the loom looks like, as the pic on kufatec aint great!

Did you need to buy any plastic adaptors or anything to plug the seat connectors into?

So is it basically this on the loom.

One connector = goes to passenger side seat other end of it, 1 pin plugs into climatronic unit
One connector = goes to drive side seat other end of it, 1 pin plugs into climatronic unit
One connector = earth, goes to earthing point near bonnet release catch under fusebox

Is that all the wires?
Title: Re: Heated seats
Post by: apollo13 on October 21, 2010, 11:33:20 pm
No sean thats not all of them!

Youve got one that goes to the cecm under the steering column and two or three that go to the fuse box.

Once you get the loom itll become clear mate.

@morty ah i see it i think the new white display clusters have a few more features?? no faults on the cluster at all.
my cluster was originally a petrol cluster but the guy re wrote it with diesel info so the rev counter works just as it should! revs through the full range.

He also changed the leds to white which looks good but i might change the needle leds from red to blue when i get a spare chance.

Hi guys, I shall be attempting this tommorow evening, in the dark nonetheless! (Ok with a lamp!) And hopefully I won't have to bother Lee too much on the phone!
Steady plus and ignition plus in the fusebox, which fuses are these?
And Obviously I will put 2 new fuses where the heated seat fuses would be on factory pre-installed seats in the fusebox?

Thats about it I think for now... Although im sure on my loom the parts that clip into the climatronic panel, the climatronic panel pin 10 & 11 are like 'Minus sign' shapes, whereas the pin to plug in, are square shaped...

Shaun the best thing for you to do is take the old seats out, run the loom under the seats and up the side cill trim to where the bonnet release is, put your new seats and plug the airbags in.

At least then you can use the car and wont have any airbag faults. Then when you have more time connect the loom up. All will become clear once you start doing it mate.
