What do I need to fit a RCD 310 in my Mk5 GTI from 2006? Will it drain battery and is newer canbus gateway required? If so which one to get
Cheers :happy2:

You will require a gateway
I can offer new Pre-coded gateways for £75 delivered
-
I've read that it is possible to reprogram the old canbus gateway?! Btw I have acces to VCDS

Good value just for the gateway. Is that £5 extra for the coding? Otherwise your signature needs updating.

Will this gateway, part # 1K0907530T be ok to use with a RCD310 with no issues? Or do you recommend any specific gateway?
Seems people are talking about the "L" one

I have a Q gateway which I'm selling cheaper £50 delivered, can be pre-coded

Will that work no probs? Are there any differences in the gateways, i.e there are so many. L, Q, T, AA and so on?!

i thought thant the RNS310 would work with the older canbus without any issues
with no battery drain.

nope, all the newer VW head units require a new can bus, unless your lucky enough to get an RNS510 with correct firmware

RNS 310 does seem to be fine oddly enough. I've yet to read any reports of it causing battery drain and I left mine parked for over a week recently without issue. I've got an ancient 1K0 907 530 F gateway.
Could it be because its made by a different manufacturer? Its loosely based on the hardware of the old RNS 300 too whereas the others were all new units when they came out.
