My wife scuffed one of the alloys on our car recently.  :scared:

Sorted it with the Dremel, some stainless steel polishing bars and some lacquer.

Looks as good as new now. :happy2:

I got mine from Halfords but there are plenty on ebay under "Stainless steel polishing kit".

It would bug the hell out of me, so I'd have to get it done properly

The damage to mine was of a similar scale to the OP's.
With a little bit of care and patience you cannot now see the repair even up close or even feel it when you run your finger over it.

If you are even semi competent repairing that wheel is easy.

That's the one.

First off I used a fine sanding disc on the dremel on the worst of the damage ensuring I didn't press too hard and put a dip in the rim.

Next I rubbed the coarser of the 3 bars on the damage and worked it in using a felt wheel on the dremel (The felt wheels supplied with the kit fit a drill and would give you less control). You then polish the area to the desired finish using the less coarse bars and the dremel with its felt wheel.

When you are happy with the finish apply lacquer.

Between applying coats of lacquer use the kit to polish your stainless steel exhaust tips.
