Some of you may already know about these cameras others not.
These are now deployed on the M25 and yesterday whilst sat in traffic I noticed them flash on more than 12 occasions on the opposite faster moving carriageway.
As you can see these are not the traditional overhead gantry style cameras, there is also NO road markings as an early indicator.
Watch Out ! :happy2:

Are these the ones just before you reach Clacket Lane services (traveling clockwise) ? if so I can confirm they definately work as they flashed a couple of cars ahead of me last night. From memory I think you need to keep your speed at 50mph on that stretch !!
-
They are at clacket section both ways and round the top of the m25 where there's roadworks at the moment. They are in the areas where the hard shoulder is a controlled lane and variable speed signs. I've seen the ones near clacket catch quite a few people out.
-
Sooner or later we aren't gonna be able to drive 'passionately' anywhere....
-
They are a mile before and a mile after Clacket Services in both directions.
They were busy last Saturday when I drove through. :scared:

Yes those are the ones.
I see those ones flash everyday :sad1:
They are also situated on the opposite direction passed Clackets lane :happy2:

The Policeman's annual champagne party is obviously running short of funds and needs a top up

As long as Tom Tom is upto date it should not be a problem :happy2:

The cameras have been fitted between junctions 5 and 7 (M23) during a £129 million ‘smart motorway’ scheme in order to promote responsible driving.
But the Highways Agency refused to reveal where the so-called ‘stealth cameras’ are, or how many there are near Sevenoaks, citing “operational reasons” for the lack of transparency.
And this, along with the fact the inconspicuous cameras are grey in colour and mounted on grey poles beside grey gantries, has prompted fears they are being used as a cash cow rather than a viable speed enforcement measure.
Maidstone and Medway News can reveal there are two operational speed cameras – around a mile either side of Clacket Lane – in both directions, meaning motorists heading in both directions can be clocked twice in a matter of minutes.
The cameras are fitted on gantry numbers 4381A and 4310A in the clockwise direction and gantry numbers 4381B and 4310B in the anti-clockwise direction.
There are 46 Highways Agency Digital Enforcement Camera (HADECS) enforcement sites along the entire M25.
Each site can contain up to six cameras depending on the lane configuration in the area.
-
Can't really complain that you didn't see them, there's enough effing signs. Stealth = absolutely no observation, obviously.
For us northern types they're on the M1 around Nottingham. Only active when temporary limit is in place, although there is a rumour that they will flash anything above 90
-
They are also on the M1 around junction 11. I've been driving in the other direction and seen them flash even when no one is on the other side. I smell bs.
I've the travelled back the other way at over 90 past them, and not been flashed.
-
There are no speed cameras on the M25, due to some legal guff. Google it. :happy2: The cameras are there for monitoring traffic movement, volume, etc etc :driver:
-
What do you mean due to legal stuff, what a load of BS, they are there to enforce the variable speed limits when shown on the signs above the gantrys.
They MAY also possibly be used depending on police force to enforce a top limit above 70, this has yet to be proved
-
These new variables do near clacket do work but the older over gantry type do not. Something with the speed signs on the gantry is not legal due to size or font so they cannot issue fines from them but I'm sure that's soon to be resolved. Also there's the average speed cameras from the a2 junction to the tolls and over Dartford bridge (which is soon to be 20mph soon for roadworks for carraigeway alignment and removal of toll booths)

20mph :surprised:

The smart cameras do work as the signs now have type approval from the home office

Also these are all the smart motorways that exist and that are planned over the next few years

20mph :surprised:
To be honest it hasn't been moving faster than 5mph for the past few days. Its so they can dismantle the tolls and realign the motorway as its going to a congestion charge type thing

Seed cameras are a nuisance and a necessity, I'm fine with having them around, but not when they are hidden and "stealth" like these. They are supposed to be a deterrent, not a cash cow.
-
Why do you think there stealth?
Just cos its grey? The standard variable speed cameras on loads of motorways are grey, all they have done is condensed 4 cameras into one, at least it hangs off the side so you can have a chance of seeing it rather than being hidden by the bloody sign its enforcing
-
Do they take a shot of the rear or front of the car
