Title: RNS510 Firmware issue after VIM CD
Post by: afterburner on May 31, 2014, 12:37:00 pm
I just tried to disable VIM (video in motion) on my RNS510 but after i loaded the cd it seems i have lost everything, no maps, no radio, sd card & all version info has gone.

While loading the cd i got sn error stating SWL cd was older version & to insert original SWL cd of which i dont have.
Has the VIM cd written over all original data?

Link to website i used:

Do you want to try using the swl_fix cd as I may have the iso stored somewhere?

Alternatively wait for more expert advice...

The site you linked to has US firmware links which are no good for UK units. I hope you live in the USA and maybe we can sort you out.

Anyway, before you go doing anything else and trying to save it, whereabouts are you? Might be close to me and I could have a look for you.

Whatever you do, don't download any more random firmware and what have you, until we know what you're up to.

Im in the uk
I went to rnsfirmware.com & downloaded the latest 4020 firmware for my unit.
Did the update & everything seems to be back to normal now, fingers crossed.

I even have VIM now.

I'll scrap the VIM script CD's as you say the may well be for us FW versions.
