iv'e spent days reading tests and reviews but there isn't an obvious winner, one place will praise a certain tyre and the next place will slate it. Only comment or vote off experience please, not going off what your brothers dogs vets teachers gynecologist thinks. Ive been racking my brains and the internet for days and I cant take it anymore so hope you guys can help me out. All tyres are closely priced...ish, Cheapest are Vredestein at £82.10 each and dearest are the Michelin at £99 which i'm happy to pay but if i went for the cheaper side of things I could get 4 wheel alignment done too, but that can always wait if the Dearer ones are so much better. Any other suggestions please just say.
Thanks

It's got to be michelins & a close 2nd for goodyear
-
Ive heard really good things about Vredestein ultrac sessenta tyres from both website reviews and user reviews Im more than likely going to get a set of those when there is a need for them. As their quality tyres and not too pricey
-
cheers for the link, just reading that now. Super sports are too expensive im afraid at £460. Ive heard good things about the Vredestein too but some people are saying there dangerous in the wet, yet others are saying their great.
Just added vredistein ultrac vorti on there too after just reading some very good things about
-

In that case I personally would go for the Goodyears...
-
I swapped GoodYear assymetric for Kumho KU39 and I'm more than happy with Kumho.
-
Looking forward to the results of this, I'll be changing mine soon and want to get something decent. Car came on infinity on the front and Haida on the rears, all of which are absolute sh****. Wouldn't even recommend them for a rope swing.
-
I just can't get on with Dunlop tyres, continentals for me.
-
For me it's got to be the Goodyear Ass 2 extra load ones. The Michelin are just as good but too pricey. If money is no option then the super sports would be my choice however if you have a tighter budget I honestly think the Goodyears are very good value for money. All in my opinion of course.
-
Looking very favourable for the goodyears! you guys have saved me my relationship haha, she's been getting a bit frustrated with my tyre searching
-
I have p-zeros on and can't fault them.
-
Vreds for me. Had them them on my 25th anni and my mk5. A very good tyre, excellent in the wet and dry and very well priced. Although they do get a touch noise when down to the last few mm on the tread.
-
I run winters / summers so wear isnt so much an issue for me .
I was going to fit Yoko's Ad08R's as I run them on 2 of my other cars but went for Michelin Pilot Super Sports as I had heard good things about them .
Currently putting some miles on them , before I put them to the test but first impressions are good so far .

I have sessantas and love them

GOodyear eagle f1 gets my vote.
They are great tires mate both dry and wet they perform really well :happy2:
-
Looks like i will be getting the eagle f1's then, clear winner in the poll, I think i would be happy with any set of those tyres after reading reviews they dont dissapoint. Shame the eagles arent a sexy design like the sessentas but i'll get over it. Just checking out where to get 4 wheel alignment done now and a place thats really good at balancing wheels, most places are rubbish and after a new tyre theres always a vibration.
-
Another shout here for P Zeros
-
Goodyears assy 2's XL :happy2: had them fitted in all corners and I'm over the moon with them. Would definitely buy again
-
I'd have the michelins over the f1's.
-
I've tried the Eagle F1's (excellent allround), and Uniroyal Rainsport 2 (excellent in the wet, not as good as F1's in the dry), tried vReds in the past, found them very long lasting but not as much grip as the F1's.... so personally I'd go with the F1's especially if you can get them under a ton in 18's
-
Yeah, their £94 each from camskill in 225/40/18 extra load. Will be getting 4 wheel lazer alignment too and i might aswell put an anti-lift kit on aswell before the alignment depending on price
-
I keep hearing good things about Goodyear EfficiencyGrip so will be opting for those when I need to change.
-
It appears Goodyear make two types of F1 for my size at least. One has a much better wet grip than the other.

Ive noticed that with a few tyres aswell, i thought it might of been a different compound but there is no mention of it

Slightly biased perhaps, but for me Karl it'd be the MPilot Sport 2's, which I have now and are fantastic all rounders (225/40/18 92Y) or the MPilot Super Sports, which a friend has on his MY10 Rocco R (235/40/18 92Y). After one drive, I was sold TBH.
Either are as good as each other in real world, daily driving mate :happy2:

+1. I'm running Pirelli P Zero's on my Beemer 330. Superb.
-
For me Michelin PS3 are 1st and Goodyear eagle f1 ass 2 are a very close 2nd
-
I just had 4 Michelin SP3 fitted and the difference over Falken FK452 is unbelievable. Thought it was just in my head at first, but after a few hundred miles the difference is clear. They just feel more comfortable and give you that little bit more faith in the corners.
End of the day, any premium tyre will feel amazing over a mid-range or budget!
-
Conti's on mine and im rather happy with them :happy2:
-
Currently got Continental contisport contact 5, but changing to Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2 next. :happy2:
-
Has no one on here used the Vredestein Vorti's then..? I'm hearing good things about them and was gona go for them next.
Also has anyone used JungleTyres.co.uk? £20 cheaper than camskill for the Vorti..!
-
Pilot Sport 3 all the way. Great levels of grip and comfort plus fantastic wear rate. I got about 29000 miles out of my last set switching front to rear. I also recommend Toyo T1 sports as a brilliant tyre to have and can be had for £82 a corner from ETS tyres.
-
whats the rim protector like on the PS3?
bridgestone is really large, which is needed for when the mrs parks...
-
Ive just had 4 x Bridgestone 225/45/17 RE050 tyres part worn approx 7mm fitted today & the difference over the budgets i had on before is huge :driver:
-
Its not bad but you don't get much protection on any low profile tyre 45 or less.
-
Will be ordering in the next few days. Id do a write up but iv'e nothing to compare them too, all my tyres are odd and 2 of them are on the limit, i have got 1 hankook v12 on there, so iv'e got half decent nsf grip :happy2:
-
another vote here for the Vred Sessantas
-
I keep hearing good things about Goodyear EfficiencyGrip so will be opting for those when I need to change.
I've had these fitted yesterday and seem great in dry and wet, cheapest place was asda tyres online but my local vw dealer price matched and did a collection and delivery too
-

The missus has these on her MK6 TDI. Very good wear rate, plenty of grip wet and dry, and quiet too.
At first I thought they were a bit noisier than my Assy2s but I think they got a bit quieter and the Assy 2s seem a bit noisier now....

My Ed30 has these on at the mo. They're ok, don't think they are as good as Assy 2's though
-
thinking of trying PS3's next on me gt tdi, 225/45/R17 £99.94 fitted from AA tyres (national).....
-
I've just got michelin ps3's on my ed 30 but I've had several sets or vredestien sessantas on my other 200+ bhp front wheel drive cars and they are a great tyre especially in the wet.
-
You need to add Avon ZZ5, I'm really impressed would put them on par with eagle F1 or even better!
-
just a heads up - received a the new Costco Voucher book. There is a £50 discount offer on a set of 4 Michelin PS3 (fitted). The offer applies to other models in the Michelin range also. Discount starts on the 9th June.
Hope this helps
Rich

Had zz3s before for a few months and they were average at best. appreciate they are different model.
-
Currently got Bridgestone potenza Re070 on and they are superb in the dry but exciting in the wet!!
-
had a set of goodyear eagle f1's get delivered today. Will be getting fitted tomorrow if and when i can find someone i trust
-
Seriously the Avon ZZ5 are great!! Loads better than the ZZ3. Very quiet give them a go..
-
Michelin Pilot Super Sports appear to be good at everything, wet or dry, it doesn't matter. Yet to do first track day on them.
