On Tuesday my gearbox decided it didn't want oil in it any longer. Can anyone tell me why it has done this? It seems to have popped this cap off the side of the box. How easy is it to rebuild a gearbox, are there uprated parts available?

The input shaft bearing has worn the casing, or the bearing has fallen apart and caused excessive play in the shaft creating enough movement to pop the cap off.
Seen it loads of times. Depending if the casing has worn or not depends if it can be rebuilt or not. Box will need to come out and stripped to determine it's fate. If you shipped it down then I can fix.

Thanks Alex. Hopefully get it out asap next week. If the casing is ok is there any uprated parts available or is oem ok?

I have a way that I mod the casing so it doesn't happen again. Can't really see what's happened from the pics.

Will see what it looks like when I remove it. I will be in touch Alex.
Thanks, Stevie. :drinking:

Excellent cheers Rab. If this rain ever stops I will get the box off. Will see what the damage is.
