Title: stage 2 tune gti braking upgrades?
Post by: asht42 on June 02, 2014, 10:43:11 am
Got myself booked in with Nick in july for a stage 2 remap and was just after a little advice on how far I'd need to go in terms of braking upgrades to cope with the extra power?

Easiest avenue would be S3 front discs and calipers.

Would that not require an 18" or larger wheel to fit over them though??

Is there any setup capable of handling the extra power that I can get under a set of 17's?

Upgrade your pads and refresh your brake fluid

R32 /S3 / cupra brakes (all same) will fit under 17in Monza's.

I have S3 brakes and they are a great upgrade over the stock GTI brakes  :happy2:

I'd also say S3 brake set up. When I swapped my gti to s3's I got new discs, ferodo pads, HEL braided lines with AP Racing fluid and there spot on  :happy2: I have full confidence In them and cost me just shy of £400

Awesome :) wasn't sure whether they'd fit under the standard wheels :) already got castrol react in and upgraded to hel braided lines, will I need to change these again or will they be the same?

As far as I'm aware you need s3/r32 braided lines for the fronts (which I've got), the rears you can use the oem gti lines iirc

You'll get £30 for them mate and a new set is around £38-£42 so only paying out a tender really  :happy2:
