Title: Mk5 undertray soundproofing
Post by: S4nup on June 02, 2014, 10:36:55 pm
Hi all
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. Noticed the other day that the undertray to my pre-facelift gt tdi was sagging (must have caught it on a speed bump or something) so I decided to replace it as on closer inspection it was pretty smashed up. I ordered the blue motion replacement and removed my old one. They are very similar in look with the noticeable difference being the blue motion has 3 air ducts and the one I removed has 2.
Now the big difference is the old one had a soundproofing type material (heavily padded in a plastic wrap of some kind) attached to the engine side of the tray. The blue motion one does not, it's just a flimsy piece of plastic. Any ideas if this is available seperately? I would swap them over but the existing one is caked in oil and crud from what I suspect to be a oil leak of some sort in the past.

Thanks
