It's mega mate, it's smooth but pulls all the way.
nice mate any more mods planned
For now no dude, I've missed quite a few things off that lost like meth, different bushes, bigger throttle pipe. For now it's hopefully sorted for the ring. I'd like to get the paint tidy over the summer.

Cheers dude. Can't beat the look of a Edition 30 on standard wheels.
Quick pic of my bay, not running any aircon and removed the charcoal canister too, there's loads of room for a catch can now.

Nice read mate, fantastic work here bud keep it up :happy2: what's next
-
Very nice mate..used to talk to Justin aka h4rdy regularly but been very busy so not heard from him for a while..last time I heard he might be getting a evo5 or 6...can't praise enough for nick growers work as my previous car(ed30) was awesome with a stg2+ map...dropping my golfR with rtech at the end of the month for him to work his magic after I get my Nortech turbo kit fitted by Aks..
-
Great looking Edition 30 mate top effort. :happy2:
-
Great, sorted ED30 you have there Shorty. Good commitment to the cause too in removing the air con. :happy2:
-
Great work so far matey, can't wait to see what comes next and how you get on at the ring! :happy2:
-
how hard was the aircon to remove mate and whats involved? PM me if you like
-
Been mad busy the past week getting ready for the Ring and today it finally all seemed to come together.
The last piece of the puzzle, getting aligned on the old Hunter..

Love a bit of a camber, running a 12mm spacer on a chunky Federal with no poke or scrubbage.

So happy with how it drives and goes, seems to handle awesome running a bit of camber all round. Can't wait to get it on the Ring.
Speaking of which, off to Dover I go. :)

Making me miss my old tornado eddy reading your thread :sad1:
Car is looking great and nice to see it still going strong and heading back to the Ring! Definitely much more sorted than last time it was there , enjoy! :happy2:
-
good luck at the ring dave

Stay safe matey

Definitely in for any vids on this when you get back. :happy2:

+1! :happy2:

Very nice mate. What I'm interested in is the brake set up. I was looking at the TTRS calipers with the bracket to fit them to the standard 345mm discs but I was told that you need the TTRS master cylinder to see any improvements. Is this true???
I done my first track day on Thursday there in my mk2 Leon Cupra and brakes are a priority now as I'm planning a few more.
-
Love this, would be good to see some vids! :happy2:
-
Where's the update Dave :scared:

You don't need the master cylinder upgrade.

Sits lovely

You reken this will pull ove 400hp?

You reken this will pull ove 400hp?
Not now mate. Didn't end up making it to the ring. Car died 40 miles from home, the turbo sh*t itself.
Absolutely gutted, got the car in a million pieces again. :(

That'll save me a few £££ then. I can find the TTRS calipers with pads for £300 but the brackets to fit them are nearly as expensive I've found out. Kinda puts me off.

Just a quick update for any people who have asked.
Sadly I didn't even make the Ring, we got 40 mile down the M6 and my mate in his 330D BM snapped his gear linkage, so we limped it Sanbach services, pulled it apart so we could go back home in my car to weld it up.
Car park strip down..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fz325%2Ftripod_tings%2FD7161863-FFB6-48F4-ACE7-12C775E15E93_zpsfj4emxdq.jpg&hash=8183928bd0d728cbf492ff9afb16bc4bf194f21f)
We then left the services to fly back to mine to sort it, pulled out and my car wasn't making full boost, it had been smoking too. It got less and less and as we got back to mine it was smoking bad and I had no boost at all, so knew something was pretty bad. Got a lift back down to Sandbach, fixed my mates BM but it still wasn't 100% so decided to call it a day.
Was absolutely gutted, I'd done 200 miles since it got mapped. Got the turbo off the next day and it was seized, bits of the heat shield around the turbine wheel had come away jamming the turbo.
The car is now sitting in lots of bits again and the engine bay looks like this..

Decided to have the inlet off seeing as it's off the road again and clean up the valves.
It's looking very sorry for itself. :(
On a good note, while it's off the road this came up for sale off a mate, so I bought it to run while the reds one getting sorted.

A lovely black one, also DSG. Bought it thinking it was totally standard but when I drove it I noticed it was missing a bit higher up and in between gears. Anyway I checked all the normal bits like DV, PCV, cam follower and plugs to find the PCV was knackered, I blanked it up for the time being.
Went back out and it seemed to pull nice, a quick look on VCDS shows it's got a stage 1 map on, seems to be nice and smooth. Very happy with it, lovely being in a fairly normal quiet standard car!
-
How mwny miles had the turbo done?
-
A bit of good fortune then, getting one i the right colour as a second

What spec do you have making that power I.e. Engine internals??
-
How mwny miles had the turbo done?
Not a lot, about 600 mile. Don't really think it was any fault of Dans being honest.
The car is going back on a standard turbo for now and will be having a R Tech 2+ map, I'm fed up of it being unreliable lately, I just want a car I can enjoy again.

I'm running a stock BWJ Cupra engine, nothing's changed internally, 1,8bar is "safe" on these engines IMO

What power are you hoping for? I think he's mapped a Leon Cupra on the same set up as you already, be good to see what yours does.

Around 400 & I be happy :happy2:
-
400 - 400 would be very close to perfect :innocent:
-
Oh wait Dan, you have an R 500 -500 would be better :P
-
I'd love a 400bhp ed30  diff time for sure lol
-
Jake no need to wait til then to get a diff, get one now ! :driver:
-
Need a clutch so would make sense as would only require splitting the box once and 1 lot of front alinement. However I never suffer from wheel hop or under/oversteer so can't justify buying one for the sake of it :signLOL:
-
Yes a great time to add the diff in with a new clutch, it makes a nice difference :innocent:
-
I'd love a 400bhp ed30  diff time for sure lol
A diff would be good but IMO not a necessity on a fast road car, on sticky Federals you would be suprised how well it put the power down.
-
shop them both in for a n54 engined bmw as per earlier....

Dan - if you go to page 1 of Hurdys build thread he said exactly the same thing
-
I have my flame suit on and ready for this, but...
I drove your car a few times in its old stage 2+ tune and thought it pretty much perfect power wise for a road car and it never missed a beat, yeah not huge power (dyno'd at 360 @ awesome) but imo plenty for the road
Hope you get her back on the road quickly, have a soft spot for this car and was looking forward to its return to the ring :happy2:

I do regret it now dude, it did used to go proper well on Revo 2+, like you said, it was a proper good road set up and handled the power really well!
She will be back soon! :)
-
Yeah it went really well as just a 'regular' Revo 2+ car mate, made my stage 1 bluefin ed30 look like a 1.4 when we went side by side
Justin improved on it even further than when my cousin owned it so it must have been a lovely drive when you got hold of it! Best of luck with a speedy return to the road in it :happy2:
-
I really miss my red 'rocket' but now you've broke her!
:sad1:

Hope it's back to its former glory soon Dave, love this car!
