Hi all
Really pleased with these cades bern 18s with 42 offset. Flush in the rear but maybe 1cm too pokey at the front. I am not very mechanically minded - just wondered if any simple solutions here - other than getting fenders manipulated ? Simpler terminology the better. I know it needs slight lowering - maybe this would help slightly but im just really peeved as i wanted a proper flush all round. Really appreciated in advance.

My car was similar before I lowered it, its like the front wheels were poking out of the arches and its not a nice look especially on stock springs so I can understand your frustration there! However once I lowered on Eibachs along with a 4 wheel alignment the front wheels tucked under the arches and looks more natural. I would suggest get it lowered first (lowering springs or coilovers whichever you prefer) then work from there.
However an offset of ET42 will poke out a bit compared to the OEM spec wheels, my BBS wheels are ET47 and they're pretty much in line with the arches for me so I didn't need to do additional work. If its rubbing the arches then may want to consider rolling it slightly or go for tyres which stretch slightly so it runs narrower from the sidewall. You could also tweak the camber of the suspension so the wheels will tuck in under the arches slightly.

As mentioned invest in some lowering springs or coilover's depending on your budget, then get 4 wheel laser alignment should fix the problem mate good luck.

Sorry for delay - thanks for response.
With regards lowering springs - You buy with a set lowering (e.g. 30mm) - is that a guarantee? Are they adjustable in some respect.
I want to lower but not too much so not really sure how to calculate the measure I need - Unless they definitely do what they say on the pack!
Also - been quoted £140 for fitting. Thought it was a bit high - any thoughts?

There's no adjustability with springs, just fit and they sit where they sit. May be 20-30mm, maybe higher at the back than the front, may be perfect. For control over height you'll need adjustable coilovers.
Either way, you'll need a full 4 wheel alignment done too so factor around £75+ for that too. Depending on how much your particular garage charge per hr, seems ok ish.

I think you'll still have rubbing issues if you go too low. If your arches aren't rusty you may need to get them rolled. That is some serious arch gap :laugh:. Definitely recommend coilovers over springs though, so you can adjust it, JOM's are cheap and cheerful and probably not much more than springs. Never trust the manufacturers lowering height on springs in my experience!
