Hi guys
I was stopped at the lights this morning and came to move off in first and the car just wouldn't move, I tried to turn engine off and on again to try move it and it just kept trying to start as if it's a low battery but wouldn't move. The error message on the display said: oil pressure stop engine! And had the oil symbol
I had topped up oil last week so it shouldn't be low and it hadn't flashed saying low oil level
I have had issues with the car needing regular water top up to the coolant. I topped up about 5 days ago and it have flashed low coolant since then.
At the mo I need to move the car as it's in a restricted parking bay before tomorrow am. Can someone please advise what I should do, I have recovery so will call them as soon as I'm done with work today
Thanks
Mak

Sounds too late to me :/
If the car was turning over like the battery was dead it's possible there's damage. Check the engine oil and make sure it hasn't turned to tar :o
Don't run it again until you're confident the engine oil is ok and the oil pressure is good.

AA guy thinks its either the wiring loom or the injectors, I have taken it to garage will see...
-
Injectors!?!...wtf?
Thers AA guys, and AA recovery drivers.
One of my neighbours was the latter, and i wouldnt trust him to fuel my lawn mower properly, let alone mix 2-stroke for a strimmer!
Tow it. Do not run the engine!

Fuel pump apparently! £450 to replace it  , does that sound about right?
-
No..... you can buy an uprated HPFP for that...
Why is it fuel pump if it's an oil pressure problem? unless that's just because the car was cranking for ages and didn't start, which if that's the case is expected and normal.
If it's a fuel pump buy a used HPFP for like £120 and fit it yourself.
-
Yea 450 includes diagnostic fee.
I think the oil pressure light only comes on when the car is cranking for ages as you say and then it flashes with the oil symbol/says low oil pressure stop engine.
I am in NW london can anyone recommend anything please?
Thanks

That's for the in tank**** fuel pump?
The HPFP is a lot easier.. it's like 5 bolts.

Am I missing something. Why are you replacing the hpfp to cure low oil pressure?

If you read it , the car isn't starting
Extended cranking causes oil pressure light to go on.

Ahh cheers. I assumed (wrongly) that the car had displayed the oil pressure warning, stalled then failed to start. That's what I get for skim reading.

I don't know if this will help but I thought if share it. My brother had a problem with his touran which was doing a similar thing. He come back from work one day parked it up and next day tried to start it and it wouldn't start and when he kept cranking it he got oil pressure warning. I know it's common on mk5 gti's to have a blocked pick up. But might want to have the battery checked.
