Looking for a Dsg golf, what's the life expectancy on a looked after unit?
Even if looked after do they still go wrong?
Reading up it seems to be a busy topic full of horror stories on costs should it go wrong.
It's almost putting me off buying a golf and search for another auto type car.
Thanks
Will

Mines at 105k so far and absolutely fine.

Sweet.
Just picked one today. Lovely car, lots of gadgets and plenty of things to keep me busy for now!
The DSG is so smooth, feels seamless in gear changing.

Mine's been serviced on time and works perfectly. Best of both worlds - smooth and easy in traffic and fast as flip when you're making some progress.

Wouldn't buy another one though... miss having a clutch.. And hill starts in reverse are annoying.

As everyone says,Dsg oil change every 40k

Have you seen any or come across any Golfs you fancy, I would also advise you go for one that's ad the annual or 10k mileage service regime.
He said he's picked one up already :stupid:

Thanks.
Just looking at places and the choice between Main dealer is appealing but look at specialist, in particular Volksauto, in Sutton, they seem to offer a good saving and I'm looking to get the cambelt, water pump and tensioners changed.
They offer that for one price of 312 and dsg about £130 odd.
So main dealer or specialist ? It's a 56 plate but looking to keep it for some time.
Thanks
