Title: Revo stage2+
Post by: robern2 on October 23, 2009, 06:22:14 pm

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi721.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fww220%2Frobern2%2FGolfGtiEdn30_ITG.jpg&hash=857a44333ee93d97eb58f455970e8cbbeeb92acd)

Apologies to those of you unfortunate enough to read my ramblings on other VW forums.
I've just returned from HLM in Bromsgrove following the fitment of revo stage2+ code and the ITG CAI to my edition 30.
I can genuinely say there is a night and day difference compared to stage 2 alone.
I thought the car was Car was quick before but the increase in both mid range and top end pull
is astonishing. Seemingly I'll run out of road before the car stops pulling.

I wasn't chasing 'dyno' figures though 358bhp/348lbs is a cracking result given the b7t5f6 settings which reflect
the car getting a little warm with it's standard intercooler after numerous runs.

The car remains just as easy to drive around at low speeds with no additional noise, it's only when pressing on
you experience a momentary fluttering sound from the CAI as it gulps in the new found air before taking off
like a scalded cat.

All credit to Revo and ITG for developing products that do exactly what they say on the tin which I believe is reflected in
very similar rolling road results with StevePs car. I wont steal his thunder, sufficed to say it's made me think about that
damn THS intercooler which did such a cracking job.

My thanks go to Hamish at HLM for the dyno time, Andy at ITG - a more clued up chap on induction technology you
will not meet, although that 96% oxygen compound stuff was beyond me :-)
Carl at revo for the stage2+ code, answering questions and tweaking my settings and SteveP, the first forum member
I've met in the flesh. (where do I get those vented honeycomb sections for the fog lights ?)

great info but I need to ask a few questions...

1. graph of 2 runs is from revo stg2 to revo stg2+ ? can you give us the spec of your car for each run please?
2.stg2+ includes a HPFP yes?
3.why dont the power/torque curves cross at 5200 rpm ? (is that cos its in Nm?)
4. manual or DSG? (gearbox remap by any chance?)
5. is the wavey AFR the before or after ?

from the graph , it looks like +40 bhp across the rev range , I find that pretty hard to believe tbh but Im open minded.
he dip at 6500 for the stg2+ seems a bit odd too...

i can believe an increase across the range as whole point of HPFP with S2+ file is to fatten the torque curve in mid range thru to top end...and that will increase ultimate bhp figs.

Definitely agree with this Lee, this is what I found on mine.

Yes thats right and it makes sense when you think about.  The HPFP is cam driven so it is going to struggle most at lower revs when boost is coming on strong (3-4k rpm).  At this point the ECU will be asking it for a lot of fuel pressure to meet the required AFR with the extra boost kicking in.  This is when the standard HPFP is at its most vulnerable because it has to work harder to supply the required pressure as the cam is not driving it as hard with lower revs.

An upgraded HPFP is able to meet higher fuel pressure requirements at lower revs.  Hence the best gains with a HPFP are seen through the mid range and headline figures will not be that different.

Keith, the car is indeed running blueflame turbo back along with an autotech pump and forge dv, it's also manual.

The runs against my car were using the same hardware in all cases the only difference was going from stage 1 software with default settings to stage2+.

The 40bhp increase across the range surprised HLM also. As Steve had more combinations of runs, I'm sure his graphs will demonstrate the point more easily.

Popping out to my local tuner to show him how it looks and goes now :-)

Good results there. 2+ is one hell of a package! I wouldn't go B8 without cooler.

Previously with stage 2 / panel filter car was running b8t6f9 with no issues.
Have just logged the car with B8 this morning, the highest CF I could manage was 3.

Did it not pull back with higher intake temps in the summer say?

I dont log the car that often but undoubtedly that will be the case as I appreciate a one size fits all model wont deliver the same results all year long but similarly I dont drive it spiritedly that often or for sustained periods least of all in the summer.
If my pockets run deeper next year then a THS intercooler may be on the cards :-)
