Title: very lucky to be a life
Post by: Andy on June 14, 2014, 08:36:01 pm
a couple of weeks back i get woken up by a phone call from the hospital saying my 19 year old daughter had been rushed into hospital having had a cadiac arrest.Got my brother to take me through has i had been drinking and the 12 mile journey to the hospital was the lonest in my life.On arrival at the hospital we got took into a small room and the doctor explained they had been trying to get her heart started for the last 45 minutes (of which i thought i had lost her) AND THE LAST TRY they managed to get it to respond again. The next 24 hrs were crictical as i didn't know if she would pull through and if she did would she be brain dead through lack of oxygen or would she be able to breath on her own with out the resperater
Seeing your daughter lying thier with all the tubes in and one in her month  was a horrible and frighting sight..

My daughter has made a full recovery now and it teachs you a leason that life is so precious and what is important in life.Cant thank the medical staff who saved her life

I was also shocked when you said bud, really glad she's doing well now. And I'll second the thanks to all at the hospital. Amazing what we take for granted daily though ain't it.

When my wife was taken ill last year the shock really put things into perspective and made me realise the importance of not taking things for granted especially loved ones.

It's good to hear your daughter has made a full recovery with no (hopefully) long term side effects.

Can't imagine what that felt like, so glad she has made a full recovery. Health and family are the most important things in life.

Thank god, Andy. So glad to hear she's made a recovery!  When Harry was born he wouldn't breath on his own. Kids don't half know how to make us worry!

Life is precious.

Excellent news that she pulled through. Words can not describe that feeling of seeing your child in that position.

My son had to have a 10 hour operation on his head just over 3 months ago, he was only 18 months old at the time. Puts things in to perspective and makes you realise how fragile life can be. Cherish every moment.

It's so common for young healthy people to have heart problems these days. Luckily she's ok and will make a full recovery.

Just over 2 years ago my best mate was out on a run when his heart packed in, he died there and then, he was 21. It's so horrible and it's something I don't think I'll ever get over. When it happened and I started looking up about it you realise how common it is.

:(

Glad she's made a good recovery mate. Hope they got to the bottom of her cardiac arrest so they can treat the cause.

I'm glad she's ok mate, sounds like she had a great medical team around her  :congrats:I know a lot of people moan about the NHS but we are really lucky to have this service. My wife nearly died 10yrs ago very scary, , from then on I treasure every moment I spend with my family.
