Hi all,
I have seen few videos that people replaced the factory CD player with those aftermarket touch screen devices .
Does anyone know which one of those are the best ( with blue backlit to match the rest of lights) ? And easiest to install without messing around much ?
I want to be able to use the satnav feature with voice guidance , could I use the radio antenna or needs to install an antenna somewhere ?
I don't plan to spend much on that, just something that is better than the OEM simple CD player.
Thanks

There's ones on ebay that use android operating system... I'm buying on next month so will let you know the score.
I did have one in my 1series coupe and it was as good as I think you'll get. Personally I I used an oem one last week and didn't really like it..

Which one is it ?
Do they have global maps or need to download or purchase maps separately ? Do you install GPS antenna or uses the radio one ?
You getting one with OBD2 ?

I have this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVqDMQXNXnQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVqDMQXNXnQ)
It's £260 from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-GOLF-EOS-GOLF-JETTA-PASSAT-7-HD-Car-DVD-Player-GPS-Nav-Radio-Touch-/120947427862?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item1c29074a16 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-GOLF-EOS-GOLF-JETTA-PASSAT-7-HD-Car-DVD-Player-GPS-Nav-Radio-Touch-/120947427862?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item1c29074a16)
All plug and play and worked perfect for the two years I've had it. Only downside is with any aftermarket headunit in the Mk5 is you'd need to run a switched live from the fuse box or 12v socket to the yellow cable at the back of the headunit for it to turn on and off with the key. Of course if you don't mind pressing the power button when you want to turn it off and on you'll have no problem.

Sorry to thread hijack but can you get updated maps for that?
If so I might have to consider it.

I have an android head unit, got it for a bargain price of £180!
It's pretty good, not as slick as a quality aftermarket but the amount of features is crazy.
Wifi dongle, access to play store, dvb-t tuner.
Would deffo recommend one :)

Yeah, it runs WinCE so if you want you can even run TomTom on it.

I have this one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-GOLF-EOS-GOLF-JETTA-PASSAT-7-HD-Car-DVD-Player-GPS-Nav-Radio-Touch-/120947427862?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item1c29074a16
Works well. No rewiring required and also works with the steering wheel controls. To get a decent radio reception I had to use one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celsus-AAN2128-Antenna-Adaptor-Amplifier/dp/B004V89HJM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1403093624&sr=8-3&keywords=fakra
Was pretty simple to wire up(blue wire needs wired into switched live which can be taken from ISO connector) and signal is back to near oem levels.

With the units you mentioned do you get voice navigation ? Do you pay extra for map updates ?
Do you get car info if using OBD2?

Mine came with 1 of these when i bought the car works a treat never had any problems. Satnav works as it should and the bluetooth streaming from my phone is an added bonus

How did you end up finding the Eonon D5152? Been looking for a new head unit myself
-
On their website mate. Eonon.com , actually for me it was cheaper on their website than eBay. Just don't buy the maps they offer. I excluded the map and used iGO Primo 2.4 with NZ maps on it. Just note the headunit color is a tad darker than the MK5 dash but it's not too bad. Overall a good unit for the price

I have fitted a alpine ine 925r
Does every thing? Not cheap but worth it! You just need a canbus decoder for its ignition live and that's it!
-
Btw the Eonon comes with canbus. Which thought was a great bonus and worry free. Good cheap option if you accept it's a Chinese product and not as good as Alpine, Pioneer, JVC and etc

What do you do about a GPS antenna? Also I'm assuming this will work without upgrading the Can Bus?

Hi in regards to the atlas unit from ebay, where is it manufactured? Is there a warranty that comes with it?
Thanks
