Hi guys any ideas how I can fix my bonnet heat shield if sagging down on the edges but all the clips are in place!!
Does it make much difference if I take it out completely?
Thanks

Just take it out. Looks neater :happy2:

Mine did the same, so it's now used as a matt to lay on if I'm working on a car

Mine has also gotten saggy, could be water that's absorbed by it in the form of humidity or another form of wear. I've decided to keep it on though, otherwise i'd be giving a real hard time to the paint with those engine temps. I don't want to be looking at this any time soon.

I made little wedges /___\ this shape out or rubber about 3-4 mm thick and used them to hold the tangs in their slots , wide enough at the wide end so they wont go all the way in
can get a pic tomorrow if you want one

will it damage the paint without it? That sucks

Color fade is caused by a number of things definitely including temperature, sunlight, paint/varnish quality and quantity and probably more. 2.0 TFSIs produce a lot heat, and it all goes up during standstill that's why you can cook on a car's bonnet. VW might be using really durable paint, but I'd rather not find out.

this shape length isn't important width at the widest point is so is doesn't slip inside

That's awsome!!
What did you use to cut those wedges from ( rubber )
I'm trying to think lol :stupid:
-
some of mine a a rubber floor mat and others are foam that won't absorb water , but anything will work just make sure water won't soak in or that will cause rust in a few years
