Title: Anyone For a Rolex Daytona
Post by: V2 FAN on June 22, 2014, 09:26:38 am
As some of you will know the Daytona has on average a 6 Year waiting list.

Local Authorised Dealers such as Goldsmith will rarely add anyone to the list as it is simply too long a wait  :stupid:

With Rolex implementing Price increases twice a year this also proves difficult in terms of affordability as you would have gone through 12 price increases in that time.

My dealer has offered me x1 New Black Face Daytona.

There is no extra cost added to this watch as I am simply offering this to the forum.

£7874.00 is the cash price Retail is £7950. You will deal directly with the authorised Rolex Dealership and you will receive a stamped and dated Rolex card baring your name, together with the Rolex warranty, receipts and associated paperwork.

A similar second hand 2003 model is selling for £7150  :surprised: http://watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/Daytona/116520/5264/item/36016

This is a great opportunity for a 2014 Model  :happy2:

I can confirm the bit about local dealers. I enquiry  about beating the waiting times and was told that a substantial purchase from their store would securely a Daytona pretty quickly. At that point my wife's eyes widened and I could sense her scanning the jewellery shelves. I asked what substantial meant and was told a purchase of similar value to the daytona. At that point I made my excuses and walked out. No way was I effectively paying £16k for a Daytona  :rolleye:

They are a truly fantastic timepiece but obviously the market is small given the price. I purchased my new one 2 months ago as per the recent purchase thread but did pay a small premium for effectively using a middle man but still way cheaper than feeling the effects of multiple price increases whilst on the waiting list

V2Fan, I will spread the word amongst people I know and as we have spoken will happily pass you their details if interested

Get in there now everyone if you are interested as these things just keep on Appreciating

Many thanks  :happy2:

And please do pass the word, it's taken me several years to build this relationship with the Rolex AD therefore someone could benefit greatly from this. I've seen these sell for £9k on the Grey Dealer Market  :happy2:

Gave 1800 for a new Explorer II from the channel islands when I made captain so No VAT, probably worth £3.5K now, its an absurd amount of money to have on your wrist but its more compact than a gold bar in the same place and arguably performing better as an investment.....

PS Speaking of which had it 8 years and never been serviced and look tatty next to my mates Daytona, wheres THE place to get these things serviced mail order....can they go back to Rolex??

Yep... back to Rolex if I were you. It will come back looking like a new watch... and partially empty your wallet at the same time.  :signLOL:

^^^As stated.
They have a service centre in Bexley Kent.
Certainly worth paying for, I don't swim or shower with my watches so I generally go 10 years before a service.
I rotate my watches frequently so that probably equates to 2 years wrist time

Just take your watch to any Rolex dealer and they will send it off for you  :happy2:

As already stated, back to Rolex for a service as it's well worth the premium imo

Had a Breitling come back from their official service centre, full spring replacements, winder, arms, re lum'd and a full case and bracelet polish, honestly came back looking as good as new!

That is true.. but it's still a watch and everyone has a phone these days that has the time on it so other than displaying to everyone you have money to burn, i don't see the point

Its probably not something I could explain or something you might take on board, but putting 8k into a watch is a much smarter move than spending 8k on a mk5 golf and modding it really isn't it?

its absolutely categorically the opposite of "burning money" more like the smart thing to do/buy with some residual cash.

Yep.

Also, high end watches are a work of art. And just like art, you either get it or you don't.

the world would be boring if we were all the same

why do any of us need a Gti when a 1.6 etc will get us from A to B in as much comfort and almost as quickly with todays roads. We all like to be individual in certain parts of our lives so some enjoy 5 hours on a golf course, some enjoy cars and modding from your corsa to your 911 Turbo and some of us enjoy the ownership proposition of a work of art such as a painting, sculpture or timepiece

I really hanker after after a 911 and I can certainly afford one but cannot with live with the depreciation with so many years ahead of me and much expense to come - kids growing up, private education maybe, holidays, cars, hobbies for said kids etc yet I know that an £8k timepiece will pretty much not drop in value if the worst happens and I had to sell

Very true. However I do wish that, for example, Paul Gadd wasn't as 'individual' in his perversions.

Right ,I aint bashing the OP but the simple fact is the market has changed with the steel Daytona 116520 back in 2000 they cost £3570 and were changing hands immediately for £6k , Two price rises a year is utter rubbish and is dealer talk the last increase was june 2012 so we have missed four increases, I do a fair bit of trading in watches  so have to be clued up , The list price is £7950 in the Uk and £250 off would be a fair discount in todays market place.

The 4130 Rolex in house movement  they produced from 2000 is a amazing piece off engineering that has become the standard motor for all current Daytona models , Don't buy a watch as a investment but for your enjoyment

Your model was the change over year from 2006 to 2007 when the movement changed from 3185 to 3186 if I recall correctly  :happy2: so you should have the Rolex inhouse Parachrom Blu hairspring.

An interesting feature that you might not know is if you pull your crown out one notch and wind it a full rotation then count the number of times the hour hand jumps. 5 jumps = old movement - 8 jumps = new movement.

I'll grab my anorak  :signLOL:

I am sure it is a 3185 movement but either way they are bomb proof and as good as each other ,

My current watch is the Platona  from Rolex  weighs 10 oz  and is just perfect , I also just collected  the new Sea-Dweller 4000 .
