Hi all,
Just wondering if someone might be able to help me diagnose a fault.
A couple of weeks ago while driving along normally the ABS, ESP and Tyre Pressure lights all lit up on the dashboard. The lights come on once the car is up to about 30mph or so and then remain on until the car is switched off
I took it to the local VW garage and got them to run a diagnostic check.
The following error was returned:
Number VAG00287: Right rear ABS wheel speed sensor
Error type 1 mechanical malfunction
Error type 2 Intermittent
As a result of the findings I asked my local garage to change the wheel speed sensor on the right rear wheel. When doing so he found that the coil spring was damaged and so also replaced that.
I have just got the car back and the lights are still coming on once the car is up to speed!!
Any ideas on what my next steps should be??
Many thanks..

Hi, check the pick up ring on the wheel bearing, you'll more than likely find a small metal deposit stuck to the pick up ring so will just need cleaning or the worst case scenario the pick up ring will have started to lift/corrode so a new wheel bearing will be needed. Cheers

Monkey 10, + 1.
Cover/seal on my bearing is damaged, not the bearing itself. Hence abs signal generator is dead.
Bearing itself ok.
Poor/compromised design imo!
In garage this morning, appx £200, total 1 side.
