Hi all I am currently looking at a set of highline clocks from a USA Gti, does anyone know if they would work in a mk5 uk golf . The part is correct i.e. 974 replacing a 964 midline, I have read a topic previously relating to USA clocks but not sure if that was on this or another forum.
Thanks Rob1

Yes, but the foils will say degrees in F not C, they also have words instead of pics for some things such as BRAKE.
You could swap your foils over though.
I had US diesel clocks in my old car, there as an oil sensor that needed activating too so there may be some small changes to make.

As above watch out for the oil sensor setting, I had that on a cluster I bought for another car. Without changing that the ECU may permanently log a fault code for 'no communication with instrument cluster'

Thanks for feedback guys, I'm currently contemplating the usa one as opposed to a uk spec one

Works in my car a treat, but EddieNL fitted them :notworthy: I asked him to swap the foils so that it looked like a UK cluster - I didn't like the USA 'BRAKE' & 'CRUISE' type where we have symbols...

nice one just what I wanted to hear, how long ago did Eddie fit them?
Also what are the foils?

Foils are the printed circles with your speedo range, RPM range, fuel gauge and water temp, i.e., the round bits behind the needles.
Easy to swap the US for UK ones...if you are careful removing the needle.
I did this to my old car in late 2009, sold the car with them in 2012.
You have nothing to worry about, if they are cheap then go for it.

Cheers
