Title: Radio problem
Post by: Baldylocks on June 26, 2014, 09:27:48 am
Hi guys,

Same radio, different problem.

The  radio head unit keeps turning on all on it's own. If I haven't turned the volume down it tends to blast out at all hours of the night.

Why would it just turn it'self on?

It kept our neighbour up last night (oops)

Any help appreciated.

I am by no means an expert on VCDS/CAN bus issues but there is a CAN bus connection for OE head units which manages the on/off process through ignition being switched on & off. By way of a guess I'd find a way to check this system out.

I'm sure an expert will be along at some point!

There is section especially for SatNav & Audio, it may be worth posting there or asking a moderator to move this for you.  :happy2:

What headunit?

I recently had mine turn on by itself, replacing the battery has so far helped with that.
On my old mk5 a dying alarm siren would bring on the stereo sometimes.

It could be many things...faulty HU, faulty CAN gateway, another faulty module, woring issue.

A VCDS scan might be a gold start.

I can't help you but i do remember reading that this was a fairly common fault when i got my GTi 3 years ago. So if you haven't already google it or do a search on these forums and you may find a potential solution  :happy2:
