Getting extremely tired of bloody busy bodies wanting to know everything that is going on! I can't even refit the trim to my boot without being asked "is it broken?" and then precede to stand there and watch me and start asking about my family and snidey little comments "no work today then" to which I reply "yeh I start @ 2pm" "OH" ARGHHH. don't get me wrong I have some great neighbours and we get on really well but I am also surrounded by bloody weirdos. Even at the bottom of my road at my mates house even if we are just outside chatting or looking over recent mods you can guarantee the bloke opposite will come out and get in his van without fail every time. I really hate doing anything to my car outside my house as I feel the whole street is watching .
Whats everyones else's neighbours like or how do you deal with them?
-
That sounds so irritating! Thankfully where I live I don't have that issue.
-
My neighbour over the wall to the rear is a complete c*nt. And he knows I know it.
-
Next time they're being obviously sly and snidey towards you just confront them, most if those sorts of people get scared when you look them in the eye and tell them to p**s off and mind their own business, they shouldn't bother you after that, some people have nothing better to do than sit around and judge all day.

Yeah, no, see that's not what I would do.
Just smile, be polite and just say that you need to get on and you could do so in peace that would be appreciated.
You both need to live there, being a dick does nothing.

Aha!! Not just me with this problem then. Small village people with a small village mentality. Ignore them.
-
Well said Jay, I've got good neighbours thankfully. One lady to my left, middle aged and been a long time sufferer of cancer, poor thing can hardly talk as it is, and the other is a family, 2 young children, well behaved kids very polite.
-
My neighbours are the same. There's an old guy that lives a few doors away and always comes over for a chat when i'm washing the car etc and always makes some comment about me washing it again! Then there's the pervy neighbour that wanted me to wash it in a short skirt!!! That comment did not go down well with my fella lol.
As for my other neighbours, she sounds like a witch when she laughs and the walls are so thin I can hear all sorts of bedroom activities. Luckily I don't have to hear that very often and when I do it's always quick hahaha :signLOL:
-
My neighbours are ok. Some take a bit of general interest at times or say things like 'I cant be bothered to fiddle with my car, I take it to the garage' ' 'Yeah, Thanks for sharing a bit of your life with me...'
But what does wind me up is when I'm cleaning the car I get ' Oh, washing your car then' ...... ' No I'm playing a game of footy.... what does it look like I'm doing!'
or ' I'll bring mine over you can do that as well if you like'..... 'No I don't like thanks, wash your own car!'
or ' Washing your car eh? That'll make it rain!' ...... 'No it wont you dozy being - If I had that much power over the climate, I'd be working in the drought ridden parts of our planet changing the lives of millions of people!'
-
One side are dickheads,he's a pen15 and she's like a cross between scary Mary and Wayne-netta Slob,we did get on extremely well with the previous owners so the fence was five foot now its over six foot.
When cleaning the car I always have people saying the 'do mine next' line, its a bit like tourettes for some
-
I'd rather have neighbours who are polite enough to make a couple of minutes' small talk than miserable gits. And I can multitask just enough to return a weak joke when they say they'll bring their cars over for me to clean.
They say politeness costs nothing, and it could be a great investment if a burglar's lurking...
-
headphones! Seriously over the ear headphones work wonders where I live. Pass the wire inside your t-shirt so it doesnt catch on anything and you're goood to go, you dont even need to be listening to anything but you'll usually be left alone.

You are absolutely right!

People don't intentionally mean to be annoying
it's just them trying to make conversation / appear to be nice
trust me i get annoyed at things like that too...

This is true, my neighbour knows everything that goes on in our road which can be handy and I'm always polite to them I just get annoyed with the noise through the wall lol

I like my neighbors. I'm always popping round for a drink or to get a bite to eat.
-
Comments about my frequent car washing from the neighbours ends up with me pointing out new damage inflicted from their weekly visits to the hand car washes  Its so bad, its hilarious

I know exactly what you're saying and that is the right thing, maybe I am a dick but when some people are persistent in they're bitching I don't have time to tiptoe around it. I guess I misjudged his situation but in mine it was the right decision.

Hahahahaha! Made me chuckle this!

got a neighbour who whenever sees me looking around the engine bay makes jokey comments like " what have you done now eh?" haha makes me laugh tho all a bit of banter until I give him a fake/blag explanation of what im doing which doesn't make sense to me nor does it to him to make him go away :signLOL: , * neighbour says: oh ok well good luck! * walks off* :rolleye:

although i dont have as many neighbourly issues as my fellow members, i do try and keep my immediate neighbours sweet - always helps when im on holiday etc and i ask them to keep a an eye on the house.
Across the street is a (single) lady who lives in a flat over looking my house. I pretty sure she watches me whilst im washing the car and every now and then comes down to take her bin bags to the communal biffa bin. she always wears the skimpiest tops and tightest jeans tucked into f*ck me boots. she always says something along the lines of "ooh, you can do mine after if you want hee hee" she drives one of those Peugot 107 things - my drool alone is enough to wash her car!
However, the most worrying thing is a neighbours cat. It sits in the window, watching me as i wash the car... its planning my downfall, im sure of it! (i dont like cats and i think the feeling is mutual).

My neighbours are great - all older peeps, so don't make much racket!
I get all the usual that's been said before when washing the car and working on it. Guy across the road always comes across and asks how much things cost (to which I never tell the true price!), and he also always wants a bit of help with his car - how to check this and that, or how to work a sat nav (he's 70+) - he's wanted a few spare fuses / coolant in the past - happy to oblige!
Never know when I might need a favour back...
I reckon the best thing with nosy neighbours is just humour them - wave hello, etc - they'll probably get bored and move on to something/someone else to worry about...
-
I'm quite lucky. Have lived by my neighbours for a long time now and they know our family and love for our cars. Always get the Sarcastic comment that I'm always washing my car but they also do take a general interest in the car and all the bits and bobs that are modded. The only really annoying neighbour I have is to my left which luckily when I'm out front I won't be able to see her but out the back she's always in her garden and have had many arguments which always makes it a bit tense when I'm out the back but chuck the headphones on and I'm left alone lol
