Hi all had my golf for a few month now, was thinking of remapping it. My mates just had his S3 mapped and has a big problem with it, he has no power what so ever until about 3/4k revs is this a common fault with a remap and what could be causing this problem, he's had a new coil pack fitted and new spark plugs...

Done by who/.

If the map is done by a reputable company then you shouldn't have this problem, especially if you get a live map (on a rolling road done) it's worth paying the money since poor quality maps can cause havoc. I've heard of blown turbos broken ECU's and all sorts because people tried to save £100 odd in a map.

Done by durham remaps, they have really good reviews, £350 for a rolling road before and after the map

Just go to r-tech problem solved

I don't know anything about them but if it's that bad then he should take it back to have the map removed and get a refund.

Durham remaps as far as I know just upload a generic remap onto your ecu
They claim to get experts at gutting the dpf too.....
...but I wouldn't be so sure since no one has really heard of them lol

My mate who has a vrx corsa and has had a map done by Durham remaps and its doin the same thing and over fuelling

Keep hearing these stories time & time again. . . :sad1:

does anybody know what could be causing these problems ? a dodgy remap ?

You need to log the car to see what's going on.

Assuming it was fine before the map then it will be the map or the map has brought an underlying problem to the surface. Either way I would remove the map and get a refund ASAP before it does any damage to his car. Then take it somewhere like R-Tech to do it.
