Title: RAC Warranty
Post by: PhilGeezer on June 29, 2014, 04:57:42 pm
i purchased my gti with a warranty, if i get it mapped and something goes on it ie. clutch etc, would my warranty still be valid?
would they even check the ECU for changes?

Check the terms of the policy, I'd doubt it but I can't say for certain.

I VERY much doubt you will be covered. My current Golf came with 6 months RAC warranty and it took a disproportionate amount of effort to get the steering rack replaced under warranty, evening then i had to pay £400!

I wouldn't say that but the exclusions can make claiming an absolute nightmare. I was lucky in that the garage i used wanted the business and was prepared to fight my corner as it was obvious the steering rack had failed (knocking) and was not due to ware.

hopefully i wont need to use it and go through the hassle!
so far i havent found a single fault with it anyway so happy days
think i might have just been lucky and got a well looked after example!
