Title: Rattle on 2008 BWA engines

Hi, we have a rattle coming from the engine of our 2008 GTi. When I bought the car I thought that the later GTIs did not suffer from this, so I just want to clarify does the BWA also suffer from the timing chain noise then? What else could the noise possibly be before I pay for an inspection  :indifferent:

Where is the noise coming from ? Does it sound like a loose object rattle or more of a ticking noise ?

Hi mate more of a ticking noise when idle. It also makes a fart type sound when you switch the engine off.

Is it coming from the front or right side of engine ( when standing in front of engine bay)?
Elaborate on the farting sound lol haha . Have you checked DV and PCV ?
