Haha yeah I worry too much! Here I go again..... :indifferent: :indifferent: haha when I rev the engine and the revs decrease past 1k to 750 ish since fitting the intake it makes a 'clonk' noise is this nothing to worry about too haha? Cheers guys!
-
Bump any ideas? Can upload vid if needed?

upload a video mate
-
Will do tomorrow! It's strange haha :driver:
-
Could be the diverter valve.
-
Thanks Alex il check that! :happy2:
-
Here's the link to the vid of the clonk noise when the revs decrease!

Same video but take it of the engine. Odd sound
-
What do you mean rich?
-
get another video up, but view in the engine
-
Okay bud :happy2:
-
Video from under bonnet!
-
That is odd
-
Hope some tech genuis knows what it is haha!
-
Hmm....
-
Any ideas at all? Tranny or engine mounts? I really haven't got a clue at all!
-
Does it make the same noise if you rock the engine backwards and forwards?
-
Il try it now!
-
Nope doesn't seem to do it however hard I rock the engine back and forth!?
-
To me it's more like some thing to do with the suction / 'vacuum' being released when coming off the throttle?
-
To me it's more like some thing to do with the suction / 'vacuum' being released when coming off the throttle?
Yeah sort of but it's when it drops to 1k rpm
-
Does it do it with the standard airbox on?
Not that I can remember to be honest!
-
Any ideas anyone? And do you think that it's a bad thing or something to worry about?
:scared:
-
There's nothing in the intake pipe I've already checked etc, it did it with the old revo kit on too, it also does it if I dip the clutch when driving but it's not as noticeable, due to all other noise etc! Checking the dv tonight and pcv! Haven't and can't check for error codes unless I pay a garage
Which I didn't really want to do!
Since fitting these intakes I've had the car cutting out which thankfully doesn't happen now. And now this! Puts me off modding the golf if I'm honest :sad1:
-
You need to refit the OEM air box and try it again.
-
What shall I do if it doesn't do it with the standard kit fitted? Hmmm :/
-
Did you fit the intake yourself? Is the pipe that connects to the turbo on properly? It can be tricky to get it seated and get the fastener in the correct place. Not properly fitted could be the reason behind your cutting out

Yeah it was cutting out at first then I fitted the turbo pipe properly and no cutting out! Iirc the car doesn't make this noise with the standard air box on!
-
Stupid question. What happens if you do it with the engine off but ignition on? Pressing and releasing the accelerator?
-

Il try that when I'm home from work Rich as well as checking the dv and pcv etc!
Thanks for all the help and everything too guys il report back this afternoon with results of checking and trying different things!
-
Yeah the battery has been disconnected for about 30 minutes approx during the install of the kit so maybe it's that but il try the various things and get back to you guys later this afternoon!
Thanks again!
-
The "putting" noise sounds like the checkvalve in the rear PVC breather pipe to me.
Do you have a PVC revamp / catch can fitted?
-
Nope I haven't got either fitted the car is completely standard apart from the revo kit!
-
Right then guys, Rich when the ignition is on but not engine when I press the throttle I get a click then once I release the throttle I get another click is that normal? And I checked the dv seems to be fine as does the pcv but I'm going to get it on a diagnostic machine for the sake of £50 and that will be piece of mind, oh and I tried it with the engine cold and it still does it then too, just thought id rule that out!
-
Anyone know if those clicks are normal?
-
Anyone know if those clicks are normal?
The clicking will be the throttle body.

So do you think the loud donk is the throttle body also?
Thanks
Jay
-
Hard to say, but I don't think so. Can't you locate the noise?
-
I'm going to take the engine cover off tonight and have a good look and listen and try to feel in different places to see if when it makes the clonk if it vibrates or anything anywhere! I'm thinking of buying a VCDS cable so I've got one for future use!
-
Just asking but did you install the nylon washer on the bolt that secures the intake to the engine?
-
Just asking but did you install the nylon washer on the bolt that secures the intake to the engine?
Yes and does it need any washers inbetween any of that? I used a washer the other side of the metal part (closest to engine) and another washer against the intake pipe after the plastic/nylon washer.
Thanks
-
As I said before. Its the diverter valve. Get a new 'G' on there and it will stop. Had the same thing on a few cars now.
Doesn't cause any issues as it is anyway.

Il have another look today Alex, thanks for the help!
:happy2:
-
My S3 has always done this and its only noticeable when an intakes fitted.
I've already replaced the dv with a rev G and replaced the pcv but its still there.
On the Audi forum theres a few people mentioned it.
The noise comes through the intake and its not dependant on which intakes fitted.
Doesn't cause any problems and I only ever notice it when putting the car in the garage.
-
New DV Rev G fitted and it still makes the noise but slightly quieter! Hmm any ideas?
-
Normal
-
Normal
Good good il just ignore :happy2: :driver:
