Hey Guys
Has anyone went KO4 with the Mk6 GTI, what else needs to be changed?
Turbo KO4 or bigger
Do the Injectors need to be changed ?
DV relocation kit?
discharge pipe
Upgraded HPFP? if going stage2+
with extra intercooler.
Anything else?
What kind of power, can then be achived on the tsi engines?
:popcornsoda:
Cheers

Hi Neil
There's a apr stage 3 k04 mk6 gti on eBay for £16,500 that's pushing out 344bhp  that's got s3/R turbo injectors blah blah blah, take a peek at it man it's a machine
I'm considering swapping my eddy (standard) plus cash for a mk6 gti/R and building it to stage 2/2+
I can never make my mind up with keeping it or not as prices on eddys are falling and thinking what will I get for it in 18-24 months time :rolleye:
Want something newer aswell, fallen in love with the mk6 3 door too

Is a mk6 GTI ED35 not K04? I assumed they would be but could be wrong.
A rumour that my girlfriend heard when speaking to a decent VW mechanic (who's worked for VW for 30 years) is that more of the mk6 GTI's and R's are coming in for turbo replacements as they have a higher fail rate. Perfect excuse to by a mk6 and get a stage 3 APR K04 kit...
I don't know why you're trying to convince yourself, by even thinking about it you've already begun to agree to that trade in deal that you'll just go to to check one out soon... Mark my words. :signLOL:
-
iirc muckipup has a k04 conversion in his tsi Skoda.

Just another reason I'm sticking with my mk5 GTI.
-
I'll point Neil in this direction...

Yeah mk6 ED35 is a CDL K04 TFSi motor
-
On the mk6 engines, are the different turbos in different positions, like with the mk5? If so then I would take a real guess at saying its almost the same as doing it on a mk5. I'm no tuner so perhaps the best guy to ask is the legendary Hurry. At 500bhp+ he must know his way round the mk6 engines.
-
No need for an updated HPFP on the MK6 TSI engine.
Stock pump is more than good enough for K04 :happy2:
-
Like said stock TSI injectors and pump do enough for 400bhp. You can buy a K04 that has the DV in the front housing too, so no need for any DV relocation.
K04, exhaust, filter and a map would see 350bhp. :)
-
I have a k04 equipped tsi as well. I will post up graph tonight

Some great gains from the TSI lumps but it really intriges me, has the TSI problem been solved, or do owners just live in hope one morning the chain doesn't skip and foobar the engine.

The latest revision part helps. It's not a big job, and the state of the tensioner can be inspected easily to see if it needs doing.

Just remember that all, EA888 engines (TSI in mk6 gti, also generation 3 (mk 7 GTI and R) are prone to oilstarvation should you take a turn with G power, so only straight line for those engines :sad1:

it's a bit of a failure that the engine from start isn't built right
-
So I'm justified in spending lots of cash on my mk5 GTI as its not going to starve itself or blow up? I like this thread.
-
:happy2:
Yes, great info, cheers guys, :notworthy:
So it really only needs the ko4 turbo with the DV relocation kit and a map, with it already mapped by Revo, 50 quid should update the map to stage 3?
Also get a Baffled Sump, to prevent oilstarvation ...
:congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:
-
The turbo needs to be modified as well.

They solved the cam follower design flaw of the TFSI though

My favourite engine from the MKV, MKVI and MKVII is still the EA113 TFSI CDL block. Very strong engine. There are a few tweaks you can do to make it even better, but if you are staying around the 400bhp mark then there is me real need for head or engine work; just bolt-ons will be enough.

They did, and made the HPF system much stronger, still i would do as Hurdy and take a EA113 CDL engine over any other from the VAG. 500BHP possible from a stock engine and it can do corners as well

Stupid question time: What cars come with CDL engines, Audi S3?

Edition 30 BYD engine is 95% as good as the CDL :drinking:

I'd heard the same. Aren't pistons, rods etc the same?
-
as far as i know yes. i previously had a cupra before the vrs and that had bwj engine which is the same minus the cams and a standard intercooler
