Title: What tyres please... :)
Post by: lippyx on July 14, 2014, 10:43:35 am
So I picked up a set of 18" Monzas for the GTI this weekend (has 17" standard at present). They are currently scuffed diamond cuts, but planning to powder coat them. I need some tyres for them though, and just not sure what to get!

The other half wants me to get Michelin Super Sport, but at £150 a corner, I'm not too keen, plus I do 40 miles a day on the motorway to work and back, so need something that will last.

What would the car come off the factory line with? Its a 2011 mk6 GTI.

Cheers

WOW!! That's cheap!! My only concern is the mileage I do, will they be OK with the motorway usage?

Sorry, I don't really know my tyres!!!

They should be ok. Motorway miles dont wear tyres out that much.

Michelin recommend PSS tyres on their site over the PS3's now, so I'd go with them or GY assy 2 (camskill had them for £93 the other week)

Have a m135i running Michelin super sports and they are a great tyre but wear on the front quite quick! On the ed30 I run vredestien sessanta's as they do best of best of both worlds!

Thats an amazing price on PSS's and call me sad but they look super sexy from the side view when they are fitted

Just ordered 4 PSS. I will update as and when they get fitted. £130 fitted off mytyres, not too bad. Hoping they will give better grip than my knackered Bridgestones.

What tyres do people run on stage 2+ Eddie or stage 3 gti?
My edition 30 seems to like the throw chunks out of the inside wheel tyre  :surprised:
I currently run continental sport contacts running 235/40/18 up front and 225/40/18 on rear still did not help much lol
I think they corner pretty well but will Still spin in third
