.... wish it was mine.... :sad1: Really looking forward to having a go in it. Apparently its very nice and goes like stink, even with only 80miles on the clock.

Fully loaded with LED headlights etc, only a few things not spec'd.

Looks a bit dull to me
-
Looks like a real barstewards. Enjoy the test drive you lucky sod!
-
front looks good, wheels don't do it any favours

Yeah... I prefer the standard ones too. :happy2:
-
Agree about the wheels. In the past between the S3 and the Golf R I'd have said have the Golf, but I understand the A3 range gets some lightweight panels that the Golf doesn't get, so maybe it's the one to have this time around. Certainly this generation of S3 is better looking than the R. In the past I never thought that was the case.
-
My little sis has a 5dr one in white, looks a lot more "blingy" on the front though, might be spec'd differently. Its an Audi so it does what it says on the tin. Have not driven it but it looks ok, rear end is best with the quads. Inside is a tad boring but that might just be my tatse.
Her hubby has an modded B8 S4 and reckons the S3 will be a right weapon with just a map. (That won't be happening).
-
my brothers got one and i can't stand it boring interior and the exterior looks like every other a3 exempt the exhausts
No hatchback should have a quad exhaust IMO
Without a doubt it is fast but it doesn't have any feeling to it and defiantly not worth £37k
Its also very uncomfortable in the back with a pathetic boot
Any day of the week id have a Cupra R over a mk7 R or s3

This has got the black pack so no chrome bling.
-
his was 37k got a few extras like led headlights and led interior or something
I was more excited for my brother getting a VW UP than the S3 :signLOL:
Personally was really disappointed with how it drove too was expecting it to be much better!
-

Holy Moly are they that much?
That's 2014 Cayman money...it would be hard to walk away from this:
That said, I bet the new S3 will map extremely well. Do they and the Golf 7R use the same brake setup as the previous gen?
Your comparing chalk and cheesy cheese though. The S3 isn't for peeps wanting a Gayman (or vice versa). I don't imagine anyone actually hands over £37k for one, my sisters one is a lease job. You'd have to be raving to spank £40k cash on hatchback.
-
Hope the LEDs are better than the ones on the Leon (I doubt it, though).
-
You would also currently struggle to find a cayman under list at the moment and they start at £39k. The one pictured is an S and they start at £49k !!
When you start to look to spend £40k then you are getting very close to 997 Carrera territory. If you can live with the running costs as opposed to the depreciation on a hatchback then I know which I would have despite the limitation on luggage capacity
-
Errr, the Cayman is a hatchback!
-
I had a good play with one in my 330bhp ed30, was quick. Look really nice in red
-
It's just a bit too clinical for me and the dull looks (mainly caused by the wheels) don't help. I'm sure it's an awesome drive and ruthlessly efficient at everything it does, but not convinced I'd want one.
-
Tried 3 different sets on my brothers s3 and it still looked boring, i think they are relying that the quad exhaust makes it look sporty but to me it just looks like any other a3
-
That's the most unassuming performance car I've seen, even more so than the SEAT Cupra. Good in a way that it doesn't immediately attract thieves and vandals, but at the end of the day it is just a fast Audi S3, nothing really special about it IMO.
-
It's blander looking than the Golf, don't like the body shape. Seems to have a rounder design than the 8P.
-
I think the combination of black and those wheels make it look subtle, it does look like a high spec tdi.
The 8V S3 can look aggressive and sporty in my opinion  ...

The interior is top dollar. The exterior is a bit meh for me, i want to like it but it's taking too much effort
-
This new gen of sporty vags are in my option soooooooo dull to look at, I've never thought any s3 has ever looked sporty, I want to love the new cupra and R but meh I just can't warm to them at all tbh. Far to much styling being used from the normal models you can't even tell them apart. Saying that if the r had a meaty front bumper it would change my mine on that one.
-
Do like the new S3 but in black with those wheels it looks like an A1 Sport.
-
Audi have done a good job with A3
I have a job to spot the difference when I see the new one compared to the older model.
I think I would have a new A3 over a mk7 Golf if I was looking to buy
-
Looks like a oversized a1
-
Looks like a oversized a1
Well all audis look the same.
-
Looks like an undersized A4.
-
I wouldn't say no to one
-
Damn boot is smaller than the 8P version that's for sure! Clubs went in fine into Jane's 8P but needed seats folding in my new 8V! :stupid:
-

I found that in the 8P3 compared with my MK5 GTI Lee, surely it hasn't got worse... :sad1: :fighting:

Yes it has... Golf GTI boot was big in comparison! Floor has been raised in the 8V so not as deep, and rear seats gone back a bit to increase leg room, so sacrificing essential golf club space in the boot :fighting:
-
And you have to say with those alloys Wiggers Snr has opted for it doesn't look that different to the motorway bashing S Line TDIs out there
Here was my demo with those wheels

F**king genius. Thought Audi's were at home at the golf club   ....
And ^^ definitely looks too subtle IMO with the same wheels, I had to stare that pic for ages to work out the bumpers weren't S3 kit. Don't even think the silver finish mirrors are as distinctive these days.

Tbh it depends what colour combo you go for, if you want your S3 to stand out then colours like sepang blue will do that for you. Mine gets loads of attention everywhere it goes, people are always asking about it.
-
Had a go in it.
Does everything you'd expect. Very quick, feels much more controlled and stable than my Ed30. Steering is nice and direct, goes exactly where you point it. Exhaust farts sounds great. The ride is very very good. Its much less 'audi stiff' that previous audis I have driven. Compliant but still nice and 'tight'
More tech. than you can shake a stick at. ACC is really great, as is the incredibly advanced satnav.
Would I have one? Yes.
Can I afford one? No. :signLOL:
-
... Steering is nice and direct, goes exactly where you point it...
Is there now more weight in it, or is it still lacking feel and too numb like every Audi previous?
-
Id say no, its not. Nice and weighted.
-
And soon to be having a new turbo whether it needs one or not according to a recent service document from Audi

Ohh really? Any more info?

Ohh.....
Better check the pn. of the turbo then!

The new S3 Saloon is a BEAUTIFUL looking car IMO, I would have ordered one of those over my Golf R. BUT at the time the lead was 7/8 months and it was looking like £200 a more a month which was ALOT. The Golf R has ALOT of spec as standard like adaptive cruise, which is £795 on the S3?
The interior on the S3 is beautiful IMO, it does feel different league to the Golf. BUT it's more money, I'm happy I've chosen the Golf this time round, hopefully the RS3 will be the one to look out for, with the 5 pot and hopefully 370bhp+
-

Troo-dat Nath :indifferent:
Audi are robbing bast*ds compared to the equiv market hit VW's. There's kit that A6's and A7's don't have (little fiddly cool stuff, that you WANT) that bluemotion Golf's had/have :chicken:
-
quite worrying especially for people wanting to tune them
-
I love mine, had it about 3 months now.
Great to drive and IMHO a bit prettier than a MK7.

A lad in my work has a lovely white one, although hes not best pleased at the moment as he noticed a harsh vibration in the gearbox which led to it getting opened up and some new bearings changed only for the diff to go a week later, hes just got it back.

Beautiful colour.
-
A guy in work has one, nice car but he's a knob so it hasn't become the talking point it probably could be
-
mmmm - would like to have a tinker with that
-
You kept that quiet Craig!

heres my brothers, still hate it but at least now i like the wheels :signLOL:
