Title: Is my rcd510 about to die? black blank screen for 1hr
Post by: paulw123 on July 21, 2014, 11:52:51 am
So on Saturday my rcd510 dab screen was just black, if you pressed the screen in right places things still worked like changing radio stations. This lasted about 1hr drive home, 2 hours later tried it again and it came back to life ok.
Now it was 33.5degrees in the car, probably hotter with the dash in full sun. Could this effect it or is about to die on me for good??
Anyone know anywhere to get it fixed if the screen does die? its an early 2013 model.

I guess mine was fine after switching off and back on again, just worried that its on its way out.
Is it better to turn it on & off with headunit button?, instead of just using the ignition? It seems to "crash" it a bit on start-up, it partially starts on ignition key position 1 with vw splash screen, then re-starts again when the key moves to fire the car up......seems a bit glitchy to me......

It would be nice to know if a lot of people say it happens a lot, and is just something to put up with....

Turning it off with the button on the unit, Then start the engine and turn it back on again ... see if it starts without the glitch if it does I would suspect it's a voltage issue when cranking the engine, Maybe the your battery is a bit tired  :happy2:
