Post by: Stooey on July 21, 2014, 09:35:54 pm
im looking for a new cat back exhaust for my mk5 gti 5dr and was wondering if this is a direct fit or not as its a 3" bore pipe also is the exhaust the same for the 3dr and 5dr?

You'd be far better off buying a BCS Power Valve system, costs more but so highly rated on here. Check them out - www.powervalve.co.uk and also look at the traders showcase section on this forum for some of their work.

Nothing wrong with cobra but if theres not a huge price difference which i doubt there is, as thats not that cheap, i would go eurojet or bcs

im just after a stainless steel replacement for my standard system, don't really want noise, that's why im after a resonated system, my local custom exhaust garage has said they can do one for £340 made and fitted so it may be my best option

I have a full res Cobra cat back and it sounds fantastic. It may not be as popular as BCS but thats not a reflection on quality or sound. I can provide videos if needed (or a test drive if you're local)

I'd recommend against a custom system. The resale value will be 50p. Pay more for a branded system and you'll be able to sell it for 75% of it's cost new.

the only thing for me is the standard system is pretty rotton so wouldn't really be looking to return it to standard as would have to source a standard exhaust to do so

Only clip I have at the moment. A very gentle takeoff and a normal change into second. Be sure to listen with headphones or a decent stereo as phone speakers don't so the bass justice.

Edit: the exhaust photos in the same album aren't the cobra. It's an exhaust from my old Corolla

Also, does the Cobra have large silencers like the Miltek or Scorpion exhaust systems?
