Just opened my bonnet now it won't go down, can any one help asap
-
Make sure nobody is still working under the bonnet :signLOL: , seriously do you mean it won't go back down from the raised position?
-
It's the mechanism I think won't close as the catch don't catch
-
Grease the catch and wiggle the catch around with a flathead screwdriver.
You can keep greasing it but its best to replace it as it will keep seizing
New catch is around £30 from the dealers

Ive had this problem and it drove me nuts when i came across it.
For me the problem was the lever in the drivers cabin. I had to wiggle it a little bit before the bonnet would catch. Altought saying that my wife helped me find the issue the first time it happened.
Sometimes the bonnet will close by itself other times it doesnt like it until i fiddle with the lever
Hope it helps

Mine used to shut fine then other times it wouldn't so I sprayed it with wd40 then sprayed white grease on the latch part thing and I've had no problems since.

I changed the bonnet catch on the wife's tdi, same as gti, and did a how too on this forum

I had this too, had to ensure that cabin release lever was back in position.
