Title: Engine starts
Post by: Gti man on July 24, 2014, 08:59:54 am
Guys

I was wondering if anyone gets a problem starting there gti up mostly in he morning.

Mine makes a stutter and then starts

VW say they cannot find a problem with it.

Anyone got any ideas

Seems odd

Mine made the same noise you're referring to. It would turn over but it just took a few more turn overs.

Changed battery to a high performance one and fixed it straight away.

Might be worth your while finding another GTI owner with a high performance battery and giving it a try before buying one?

I think I got an Exide EA640.

Capacity and cold test current are much higher than stock battery.

I think the link below is the one I have.

Read this: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,498.0.html

May be dirty valves or a duff battery

Did the exide fit like the OEM?
