hi all,
been looking at some wheels for my Gti. Whats the best width to have on the car so that there is no rubbing etc on the back. The wheels I've been looking at are 8.5j all round and an offset of 44.
-
Theres a wheel guide sonewhere on here, have a read

cheers bud!
Ive been looking on Rimstyle.com and you put in your car make & model and they bring up wheels that fit your car without modifications etc. just wanted a second opinion
-
Rears should be ok. Think mine are 18x9s ET45 running 215/40s
-
depends also if or how low the car is--mine is on 8jx19 et44 with coilovers with no rubbing issues
-
car is currently at standard height on standard springs.. i dont want it stupidly low..
-
About a 30mm drop will be fine unless going for crazy sized wheels. Plus at 30mm you can still see the tyre but notloads of arch gap. I don't like the really low drops myself.
-
the wheels will be 18". yer thats the look I'm trying to go for on the car
:happy2:
-
I ran my above set up on springs no problems
-
that was another decision I'm trying to make.. springs or coil overs, only want a 30-40 drop
-
I went for springs first then decided i wanted to go lower so bought coilovers
-
Coil overs makes it easier to get the car sat perfect
-
id recommend going for coilovers so you can get the height you want
personally think 18x8.5 et 48 with a 225/40/18 fits really well, pretty much flush :happy2:
