hoping the guru's can tell me the difference and requirements in stage 1,2 & 2+
i think stage 1 is
decent induction kit
cat back stainless exhaust
and chip?
-
Stage 1 is just a map on a standard engine.
Stage 2 is sports cat or decat, 3 inch down pipe and exhaust system. Bigger IC and induction kit.
Stage 2+. All of the above with an updated hpfp.
Stage 3 is all of the above plus injectors and bigger turbo.
That's not set in stone though. For example, if you have a 3" downpipe and exhaust but no induction kit, any tuner will be able to give you a slightly more aggressive stage 1.

De-cat down pipe

holly f*ck :jumpmove: thought that would be around 303
-
It ran 300bhp when I first had the stage one done as standard , then I went back after afew months when I had the itg and down pipe fitted , now I'm thinking of adding and intercooler
-
Stage 2 mainly comes from the mapping, as when you fit a full turbo back exhaust, you have to program out the sensors in the exhaust which normally isn't part of a stage 1 map.

Nice, what does the de-cat downpipe do to the exhaust note?
I like the idea of 330bhp but don't really want an aftermarket exhaust system.
-
From what I've seen, it makes the exhaust louder. Bare in mind running a de-cat on the street is illegal and if you crash and insurance investigate your car, they will refuse to pay out. If you want a standard sounding car but 330bhp, look towards resonated exhaust systems, these have additional silencers that reduce the noise output to almost stock levels.

It's abit louder and it got a nice burble but not overly loud , my decat is listed as a mod on my insurance :happy2:

I didn't think de-cats were street legal (MOT failures)?
http://www.millteksport.com/exhaust.faqs.cfm (Under the heading legal)
I'm open for being corrected (although please say not as I can't afford to be dreaming of de-cat/stage 2).
-
De cats are not road legal. It's illegal to modify any aspect of a cars emission control (or something to that effect). If your car would fail an mot, it's technically not road legal despite it having a current mot.
Insurance policies also have clauses that state your car will not be covered under their policy unless in roadworthy condition.

The stage really depends on the tuner as some have a 1.5 or 1+ and it also depends if your car started life with a K03 or K04...

What mods would you like to add fella?
If you want the whoooosh dissssh of a CAI and the burble of a decent decat or sport cat TBE that will determine the level of tune available to you.
As mentioned some tuners will map for the mods you have. For example, one of my previous maps (R-Tech BTW, obviously ) was a linear custom Stage 1.5 which was a CAI and Sport cat TBE. Custom maps are the only way to go IMO as you'll get exactly what you want from your car and you can mod your car to that aim.

just added a Revoms
next is a Revo map
R8 coil packs
new plugs
exhaust
then see how the car is and maybe move to bigger power
