Title: ED30 Newbie
Post by: ED30 Fish on July 28, 2014, 09:03:15 am
Picking up my ED30 next weekend, which is replacing my much loved mk4 R32.

It was a tough call to go for the ED30 instead of the mk5 r32 (or the mk6 gti) but I found a straight silver ED30 with low miles and the rest is history...

I'll get some pics up when I get it - I'm in the Bedford area if there are any locals?

Finally, great forum - fantastic knowledge base for the mk5 platform. Keep it up!

Cheers
Matt

Found it on autotrader mate. One owner from new, a really nice old boy that loves his gti's - I'd like someone to say that about me when I'm in me 70's... If I make it that far!

Sounds like a nice motor mate!

Always a hard decision between the ed30 and r32! r32 sounds amazing but you cant beat turbooooo ;)

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm impressed with it - 25k miles, been serviced every year from new, even had a new cambelt & water pump!

The R32 is a great car, I love mine to bits. Sound is amazing, just a shame that tuning requires very deep pockets!!

Thanks guys. The only thing extra I wanted was Xenon's, but the car was mint and at a good price so I can't complain.

Not sure about mods yet, I like the idea of keeping it standard and clean, but I also like the idea of 300bhp

Oddly enough, the cheapest insurance quote I got (Greenlight) are very mod-friendly - I got the recommendation from this forum. It's free of charge to add mods that don't significantly alter performance (exhaust, filter etc) and only a small fee for a remap. Which makes it even more tempting!

For now I'm happy, but will be keeping my eye out for an ITG filter in the for sale section

Welcome! The car looks mint. Great story behind it - looks like the old guy was in to his motors! Even blacked out the rear valance!
Only thing the car needs is the GTi & Edition badges, imho, but still looks good without!
Enjoy your new car

Thanks, yeah the guy I bought it from debadged it because he thought "kids would steal them". He kept them with the book pack so I have the original badges to go back on - although I'm getting used to the debadged look...

He also got the build plaque from VW, it's number 2117 so a late one.

He only sold the car because his wife has a bad back - he's ordered a brand new gti with adjustable suspension. I hope I'm like him when I get older! Top bloke  :congrats:
