my golf randomly flags up that I havnt got my seatbelt on even though I do have it on, a quick wiggle of the buckle and its fine again, any ideas why this will be happening and how to fix it?
cheers

Personally I would just code the seatbelt chime out
-
As above use VCDS to disable the warning. Its in the instrument cluster coding see http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Instrument_Cluster

how do I program it out? do I need to take it to a garage?
-
Where abouts in the country are you ? Someone with Vag com will be able to do it for you.

Without sounding stupid, have you got anything sat on the passenger seat ?
I only ask because when I first got mine I had some beers on the passenger seat and the thing kept going off, took me a while to work out :ashamed:

I live in Dumfries in the south west of Scotland, if anybody has it fairly near by and would be willing to help get in touch please, i would pay obviously. And nah nothing on passanger seat, that's the first thing i checked haha

You can disable it without vcds. You need to disconnect the plug under the seat.
-
can I really do that without any drawbacks?

The exact same thing happened to me on the way back from the gym tonight! 2 bottles of water on the passenger seat gave me a seat belt warning chime and light. Moved them into the footwell and bingo it went off :happy2:

Mine does this when ever I lean forward to pull out of a tricky junction :(

Yep, doesn't take much to set it off
Never had a car with this before and only had the car a few weeks when it happened, was relieved when I discovered it was just me setting it off

Hijack warning.... (Apologies)
The mk7 won't release the handbrake until the seatbelt is on - can this be coded out (or unplugged)?
Thanks
