Title: Noise from Engine Bay
Post by: irish_ram on July 28, 2014, 07:38:21 pm
Hi All,

Got home today from work and noticed a clunking sound from the engine bay. Took a video so hoping someone can advise me what this is and how bad it is

Not an uncommon fault after 60K miles

Cheers doylebros,

Seems easy enough to remove and replace although he had the alternator out of the car.

Is it as easy to replace with it in the car and belts on

15 minutes with the special tools £20 ish off ebay - let's you leave the alternator on the vehicle.

Just had a quick look at the pulley and is pretty tight and belt bit looks complicated for me so may just get a garage to do it.

Seriously thinking of selling now as had too many issues with this car and all the issues seem to crop up when I apply power on the car. Apart form the engine failure most other issues may be standard and wear and tear but starting to distrust this TSI engine
