Hi, thanks for reading..
It's taken me a while to get both the time and the right files, I think, together to do this but I want to make sure that I have everything correct before I take the plunge..
I have firmware 1100 on a 'b' unit, and I want to upgrade to the 4020a firmware as I have an older, 07, edition 30 with the older canbus unit.
Is it a straight upgrade, 1100 to 4020a, or do I have to upgrade to a 38** firmware in between? I've read somewhere that I need to load up the 38** firmware first as it re-aranges the partitions on the unit before I end up loading the 4020a firmware to finish - is that correct or can I just go from 1100 to 4020a with no intermediary step?
I have v10 maps as well as a copy of speed cameras/petrol stations to put on after and I'm fine doing that, cheers viking btw :happy2:, I just don't want to brick the unit flashing the firmware.
Any help/advise more than welcome,
Cheers.

Ive always gone up to 3800 first and then 4020. Best to play it safe.

^ ^ ^ What he said
One word of warning though - if you have a B unit, the V10 disc may prove a PITA - for some reason B units don't like the DVD required by V10 maps?
I have successfully upgraded the FW on my B unit, but had problems reinstalling the maps. Needed to go back to V7 maps for a smooth install, as this is still on CD. Maybe do some research around this first, because once you do the FW, this obviously deletes all previous data on the RNS, so you could be left with no Sat Nav like I was... :fighting:
Hope this helps.

I have a Rev B and upgraded using this firmware, did not have to put any other version on

I then installed V10 of the maps without issues.

Yes, that was the firmware I had because of the gateway issue. I have now, finally, done this and it all went ok. I was a bit scared as some parts of the firmware update seemed to take ages and I thought that it had crashed - but after leaving it it did finally complete fine - it took well over an hour to finish. The Maps also went on fine, they also took about 1-2 hours to completely transfer across.
After it all seems well, the unit itself seems faster overall and it has a few useful extra features now - I should have done it sooner.
Cheers.
