Title: After some advice please.
Post by: ED300888 on July 31, 2014, 04:16:49 pm
I am unsure on 2 planned mods for my ED30 and would like some advise from experience please.

I am definately getting a rear H&R ARB but not sure if to get front done as well. From what I can gather it is pointless/counter productive on FWD but I have been told they actually work well together. Has anyone fitted the rear then added front that can give their experiences on improvement or lack of by doing so?

Also getting R32 front brake upgrade and want to know if the rear is a worth while upgrade as again been told yes and no for them lol. Again anyone fitted front and then added rears later on that can comment on gains or lack of?

Car is a road car not track but want it to handles really well. It is S2+ if that makes any difference to your answers.

Actually also unsure about cts throttle pipe upgrade and discharge pipe. Not after WMI at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

bigger brakes always worth it.

front ARB not sure how much difference it makes on its own tbh as fitted bothj at same time.

pipes wont make much difference but every little helps and flow should be improved

Thanks for your input berg. The fronts I have been told make a big differance but rears almost none with only having 20-25% braking responsibility. Just don't want to spend £200 for nothing, same with arb.

When you fitted both did the car handle much better?

i fitted r32 fronts first on my gttdi and were excellent but i found the car to be nose divin at the front--when i put the rears on it balanced the braking out better

Cheers Maxitrol, exactly what i'm after.

Rear brakes are happening then. Just front arb to confirm then. Will forget pipes for now.

Your stage2+ with standard anchors!!  :scared:

Add rear S3 rear calipers to your wish list, slightly bigger piston and uses larger 310mm vented discs so a win win.  As Maxitrol mentioned, it's about brake bias.

Def get the SALK and front Superpro wishbone bushes done along with lower engine mount and dog bone bush (personal preference but I'd recommend Vibra Technics). If you REALLY want to help further reduce wheel hop then add some side mounts too.

With the aftermarket ARB's being adjustable if you add both a front and rear then you can adjust to you own preference.

Thanks mc71. Yes mate it can be interesting with 400ftlb lol.

Shopping list for up coming weeks -

H&R Arbs
S3 breaks all round with decent pads, disks and braided hoses.
B12 bilsteins with the eibach springs.
Super pro anti lift

Already done dog bone mount and all power mods besides wmi and bigger turbo/manifold but may give them all a miss for a while.

As just used as a fast road car avoiding poly bushes.

Also Change your Top Mounts to the Audi TT ones while your having your Coils fitted too, a worthwhile update.

I'll be adding the CTS discharge and TB pipes to mine, by all accounts it does seem to be a good supporting mod for peeps running higher power.

They aren't called anti-roll bars for nothing. A matching pair of ARBs are well worth it. Soft front and hard rear settings and they balance the car better than just opting for the rear.

As for brakes, they are always a great upgrade, safety and make you quicker overall around the twisties.  :happy2:

Wont be for a good year or so. Got a good 2.5k worth of handling and traction mods to do before and the probably start thinking about lsd and poly bushes lol. Then bigger turbo, manifold and wmi. Going to end up spending more on this than getting a decent Porsche or what not lol.

Mine and yours has very similar power mods also it seems mc71. You going for more power at any point?

More power? Happy for now, that may change but cars on the back burner at the mo.

Get yourself a build thread up and others can follow your progress.  :happy2:

Once got these few bits done I may do mate. Always think my car does not deserve one being fairly run of the mill. Hurdy and the likes have build threads with 550bhp monsters or at least lots of cool mods like yours on top.

^^^ Always worth doing a build thread as gives other peeps ideas/inspiration etc for their own builds. I didn't do one for 2 years then pulled my finger out.
