Going picking up my new car or n8s tomorrow. Can not wait :driver:
-
Very nice mate.Bet your like a kid at Xmas
-
Oh yes. Really regretted selling the k1, I'm figuring that the ed30 will drive the same and is a nicer place to be in. Looks wise I love both.
Excited to try dsg.
I'll say it now so you can all laugh, it's staying standard and I'm keeping it.
Cue richwig ;)
-
It won't stay standard while your on this forum
-
Good thing about these cars is there a fortune to tune and I'm tight haha
It's already stage one mapped.
I'm having his intake, it's decatted. I'm one for keeping rare models standard. So maybe a back box for sound, and wheel spacers along with 345mm brake up grade.

thats about as much as i would do except lowering slightly on coilsprings
-
Nice one Jake - that's a great car you've gone for. Looks as though it has been well looked after by the previous owners on here!
Am sure you will find some nice little bits to do to it, but the ED30 doesn't need much cosmetically, Imho.
-
Exactly. Oem plus.
Not too fussed on lowering either Tbh.
-
Shweeeet! :congrats:
Its a beauty, bet you'll end up putting all the bits that N8 took off! :signLOL:
-
I do have some budget left
So my options are
S3 front brakes
And
Intake
Or roll bars
-
the modding has begun :signLOL:
-
^^^^ Hasn't even picked it up yet. :signLOL:
-
-
I know but while I'm there with funds
So help me
Intake or hr arbs
-
Hmmmm
Intake! :happy2:
-
Really. Was thinking the arb would be more noticeable
-
Really. Was thinking the arb would be more noticeable
Roll bars have been by far the best mod on my car to date, (barring Re-Map) unbelievable difference in the handling, cornering and turn-in feel. Its a must !!!
-
Toss a coin fella, depends if your adding power, if not then arbs. If its noise (and power in the future) then CAI. :happy2:
-
Arbs it is,
I can make my own intake for less than £100

Make sure you get the H&R 28mm/24mm there mint. you can have a test drive on Saturday :driver:.

I got mine from this German site for around £305 all in : http://www.cartuningpoint.de/shop/
-
Guys... dont get too excited... It will be for sale again at the end of august!
-
Hey rich,
It's the same numbers haha. I'm new to arbs haha
-
not long now
great weather for it
-
Good choice with the OEM+ theme :happy2:
Lowering makes a big difference to how "planted" the car feels. I love my ed30 on H&R springs :jumpmove:
Stops a lot of the diving under braking (which you get with better brakes).
Enjoy the car :happy2:
-
Well picked the car up, 99% happy with it,
Few tiny little niggles to sort, tomorrow ill be giving the exterior a good going over with the machine etc
Dsg box is so smooth, will take a bit of getting used to. The golf feels so big compared to the scoob.

To be fair to n8s, the paint is in very good condition, only very minor marring, which needed really strong light to see. So much so the camera couldn't focus on it lol
The process as usual.
Wiped down with tardis,
Then polished with:
3m fast cut plus
3m fine polish
3m ultrafina
Then coated in ag hd wax, I do have a sealant but decided against it,
The windows done in my remaining gtechiq stuff from the leon,

Really pleased with the car,
Next week ill be fitting the arb's, doing some touching in and finding a rattle lol
Jake
-
I never touched it with the machine, but I'm sure it's coming up great, hopefully you can sort the rattle and the scratch :happy2:
-
knew the first you would do is wash it :signLOL:
-
Rattle is located. The boot poppers need winding in a little bit. It's keeping the lock on the second latch I think.
Sadly the scratch is terminal lol.
I've oreded som 15mm spacers for the rear, then I'll see what it looks like.
Need to get me some gliptone lol
-
Scratch is nothing you can't sort out thou Jake
-
True.
I've retouched it but alas it went through. It was still visible so I wouldn't of been happy anyway haha
-
looks ace buddy, just like mine but 3 door
-
Looking good mate ! i used gliptone the other day and seats came up like new considering they had 9 years of sweaty arsecrack in them !
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fy311%2Follliez%2FIMG_20140726_130259_zpssirbkesv.jpg&hash=0325160f65b021b4bed1216a86ca8622b8d76111)
-
It's good stuff, I've only ever used the paint side of gliptone though, I have however ordered some lol
Well it's started lol
So far I've ordered
Gliptone leather car
Aerospace 303 protectant
15mm spacers and bolts
Miltek cat back..
Jake
-
Should have gone BCS mate.... :signLOL:
-

lots of swearing later its on, it wont be coming out, sadly the steerings now out so the ed30 will see the hunter by the end of the week lol
ive gone for hard rear soft front, no idea how this effects the car lol
and as a treat I then cleaned the inside and treated with stripper scent, the smell of money app
jake
-
Yeah you have the ARB on correct settings. Never put front on hard, I thought i would try it for a week. It over steered alot more and oh man does it make the cabin a harsh place to be.

Well kinda unimpressed with the milltek, I really don't understand what all the fuss is with them, this is de res and it's not much louder.
One more worrying thing is I'm finding the seats really uncomfy......really niggling my back, been messing to find a comfy setting.
-
I'll say it now so you can all laugh, it's staying standard and I'm keeping it.
I do have some budget left
So my options are
S3 front brakes

The sign of the end.... Will be on eBay next week.
-
Will be if it keeps giving me a bad back, never known it, the amount of cars I've owned and driven,
I'm still fiddling with the lumbar support, so I'm hoping praying that its just me feeling crap with this man flu.
-
Looks like a BCS is on the cards lol
-
like I said the other day, I started touching up any chips on the car with a 2k solid.
well today I began blocking them down with 2000, I then followed with a 3000 trizact and im now leaving it to breathe till weekend,
I did how ever miss a few chips so ive added some more touch up.
heres how it looks at the moment

-
Same thing applies mix the basecoat with a little clear coat. Add activator and it will dry gloss ;)
-
Contemplating heko wind deflectors too
-
Nice work Jake - looks like the car is coming along well. Are the seats still bugging you?
Like the spacers - have thought about some for mine, but still not sure. Did you fit a set on the front as well?
-
Getting used to the Seats now,
Just got the rear spacers fitted. I may buy some for the front but 10mm ones are more expensive than 15mm
-
Hey guys
Well I finished off the golf today,
The process:
3m fast cust plus on Indasa yellow compound pad
3m fast cut plus on 3m yellow pad
3m yellow top on 3m yellow pad
3m ultrafina on soft pad.
Autoglym hd wax
Autoglym fast glass
Autoglym rubber dressing
303 aerospace dressing
Autoglym tyre dressing
The results, I'm super happy with. The bonnet looks chinless as do the wings which was my intention.
Here are some pics.

That's some form of decorators silicone, used I presume to stick it back in place, it's actually broken the manifold where it attaches, luckily the cap can go back on direct, what it does mean is I am now going to make an intake.
That aside a very productive day.
Jake
-
Car is looking great mate.... (except the oil filler)
-
Cheers rich.
Thanks for the recommendation on the springs
-
They look lower than mine.... could be the spacers.
-
Stunning mate :notworthy:
-
I only have 15mm on the rear fronts still stock. Thinking 10mm at the front
-
Cleans up well
-
I still have them 10mm spacers mate. Could meet you today too.. :)
-
They look lower than mine.... could be the spacers.
I noticed that when comparing to mine. Spacers do make it look lower
-
Pressed plates ordered, for my reg j44kxe
Tempted to make another intake too now.
-
Just ordered all the bits for an intake, red silicone obviously.
Came in under £70 bargin.
-
some more bits started arriving,

Excellent car you've inherited mate. Still looking good with the new owner :happy2:
One of my fave engine bays with that red intake piping actually :congrats:
-
Looking good Jake :happy2:

Getting there slowly, still sorting niggles out,
Had to refit the battery as the clamp bolt was cross threaded, and there still that rattle at the back,
Got a feeling I'm Guna have to rip the back seats out, and the panels to find them, but it may be underneath or a bush gone too.
At the moment the leon was more screwed together :(
-
Just picked up some s3 calipers, discs, pads, dust shields and hoses.
Really happy with them and will get them fitted next week.
Also logbook has come so plate can go on :)
-
Made a start on the calipers,
The previous owner had split them, I just needed to remove the layers of paint on there. Red yellow and blue lol
So I chemically stripped them and gave them a coat of primer, ready for red tomorrow.
No during pics for fear of melting my phone,

On another note, the seats are still a bit problematic with my back, which I really cannot understand I've drove hundreds of different cars and never had this
Jake
-
You set the lumbar up accordingly Jake?
-
Yeah I've been messing with it, I'm now thinking off pumping the seat up so I'm more up right.
Ill get the just bait wired lol, the seats really do hug.

Going to fit them on sat. Still playing with the seat...if this car continues to give me a bad back it will be for sale very shortly!!!! These are one of the tightest fitting seats I've ever sat in :(
-
Until you sit in my focus st recaros that is, I had to walk home from the dentist this afternoon :sad1: I've got acute sciatica and it's very painful I'm sure the guys who have had it will know, I couldn't sit in the seat and rather than be in pain I walked :happy2:
Very nice eddy Jake looks the business
-
Yeah we've had a few st/rs in tbh I really don't know what's causing it. I've pumped the seat up so my body is more lengthened. I keep getting an aching almost behind my lungs, I'm constantly resetting it lol
It's a stunning. Car, so would be a shame to have to sell it over something so trivial, but lets face it if you can't sit in it then its of no use.
-
I was thinking the same thing with mine mate, my wife is driving at the moment, but she's not right bothered regards the actual car as long as it gets from a-b and back without breaking down.
I need to sit in a golf R or ed35 seat so I can decide if I'm going to come back to the VW fold or not?
-
put a cushion in :signLOL:
-
:fighting:
Wash your mouth out.
With my job I get to drive lots of cars, and only a few have troubled me. It stems from playing ice/inline hockey, bad knees bad back etc but I agree, if the cars not comfy they it ruins the experience.
The leon seats were ok, subaru seats are lovely.
-
always find the scooby seats uncomfy except the new sti now that is a nice all round car
-
The seats really change over the years in the scoobs, from the 2002 which really hug, they get wider, then the hawk seats are like normal seats. The new car is almost vag looking inside
-
brakes are ready to install sat.

-
Erm, who's had a rover out of the two of us .... :booty:
-
Brakes look good :happy2:
-
There are parts on the carriers that you should have masked off really mate. Pad runners and mounting faces.
-
I have ways of removing zee paint (in worst german accent)
ive already cleaned off the mounting face of the caliper pieces. just the carriers to do when I fit them up and remember where to clean off lol :driver:
-
:happy2:
-
Guys... dont get too excited... It will be for sale again at the end of august!
:popcornsoda:
-
Oy wiggles
If I can get the seat comfy I'm happy, s3 brakes may go on hold tho now
-
Time for a K1 Or CC ??
-
S3 or Mazda 3 mps. Looking at focus st too
-
Sy Skerton has just swapped his new focus st for the new fiesta st said the focus made most of his previous vag cars seem boring and the fiesta is miles more fun again than the focus :driver:
-
Yeah the focus and the mps share chassi and engine but the mps has a lsd
