im curious to try the turtle wax claybar wax on my car have any of you guys used it?
-
The claybar is one of the wonders of the decade mate.
If you have never used one before be prepared to be amazed , its the most amazing thing.
Use plenty of detailing fluid , cut your clay bar in 2 , if you drop it you have to bin it , keep turning and kneading it then stand back and admire the results best investment for cleaning your car there is.

Go easy and don't ever press hard

:happy2:
ok i will get some tommo
-
As above using a claybar on your car will give you amazing rsults. :happy2:
I would recommend you use the Meguiar clay kit as I found it to be excellent:

Don't know how the Turtle Wax version compares to this but maybe someone else has tried it.

I love the megs clay over sonus green. It's adequately aggressive.
-
I clay my car quite often, take your time, lots of detailing mist, work the clay often and whatever you do don't drop it!!
Be prepared for paintwork that feels like glass.
Personally I have tried a few products but the meguiars is the best, go for the kit, it seems expensive but you get a good quality microfibre cloth, 2 clay bars, bottle of detailing spray and clay storage box
-
ok the more expensive stuf seems to be getting a good review and its only 10 quid more than the turtle wax
-
to be honest, i would say go with the megs stuff. i can definately recomend that. Dont know about the turtle wax
-
Used the Megs and the Sonus and liked both althought the megs detail spray wasn't the best.
the sonus is cheaper to for the spray and clay.I ideal for starting out. Autoglym also do one as well

Claying is a bit like putting undercoat on a wooden frame, etc, before gloss. If you want the best finish, without undercoat, there's no point in trying to polish a car without clay bar'ing first. As an example, the two shots below are AFTER claybar has been used, and the 2nd after rotary polishing. It was the ultra smooth, decontaminated finished left after claying which made the polished finish so nice. :happy2:
Bonnet clayed but not touched with polisher (paint feels totally smooth once clayed which is nice in it's own way!)

After polishing treatment.

just for clarity, claying doesn't lay anything down, it merely takes off bonded contaminants.

I admit my analogy was not the best. :ashamed: But OK, try this one. I repainted a garage door at the weekend for my Dad, metal one - And I sanded it down/scraped it, before applying some gloss, not just slapped it on top. Now, I wouldn't take sandpaper to a car, but claying does give the most thorough "clean" imaginable. :congrats:
