Title: Edition 30 Tuning Dilemma, Need Advice
Post by: Trunkstuff on August 05, 2014, 03:17:07 pm
Hello guys I'm stuck on what to do so have come to the forum for help!

Heres my car:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fphotos-f.ak.instagram.com%2Fhphotos-ak-frc%2F10354434_568270323288037_752865973_n.jpg&hash=ca66f94b0048937fbe306376664b29c52729efbb)

Current Spec:

Full Miltek Exhaust with Sports cat
DSG
Stage 1 Map
Lowered

Basically I'm not happy with how it drives, I have the hesitation problem under mid acceleration and the map I have isn't great, yeah its fast.. but not nice to drive.

I'm booked in for the end of the month at r-tech for a custom remap and custom DSG map.

OK so heres the problem, I have some money spare for parts for me to fit before the remap here are the options:

Induction Kit + Uprated Fuel Pump

or

Induction Kit + Uprated intercooler

It looks like revo and aprs stage 2+ map doesn't require an intercooler, and I rarely drive fast! I only mod as a hobby I don't race or do track days etc, so do I really need an intercooler or do I just go for the fuel pump for better mid range and get a cooler at a later date?

any advice would be really appreciated!

Cheers! :)

Loba HPFP
RS4 fuel valve
Revo intake or your own choice

Then get a cooler and some engine mounts at a later date !

May be wrong but I'm pretty sure for R-tech 2+ you need both cooler and pump dude :happy2:

The guy on the phones at rtech said they can only do a stage "1.5" map without an intercooler.. Whatever that is.. But i was under the impression they are custom maps anyway??

Yh that agrees with what I heard. MC71 had stage 1.5 for a while and made good numbers if you look in his thread :happy2:

If you don't drive that fast very often personally I would go for a brake upgrade instead of the fuel pump/ intercooler as the standard ones are pretty Poor IMO especially when your going to have over 300bhp.
