Title: Painted fog grills?
Post by: JB114 on August 07, 2014, 09:40:49 pm
Hey recently bought an 05 gti and the front grill and lower grill have gone that greyish worn colour. I was thinking of getting them sprayed black to freshen them up which made me think of spraying the fog grills too. Has anyone done this with some pics to show please. In my head I think it would look good but I could be wrong   Thanks

You only need to spray them if you want say, a gloss black finish.

Check the detailing section, there will be advice on what products to use on plastic to bring it back to life. Aerospace 303 seems to be popular.

Just be aware that if you gloss paint the grille and fogs, the skirts and rear bumper won't look right. Unless you have an ED30 with body coloured skirts and rear.

MC71, looks nice that mate, did you do that yourself or take it to a pro to sort out? Have been thinking of doing this for a few months but not sure if a DIY would end up with good enough results because of the prep and the area to cover etc. Any advice mate?

Cheers
