Since updating the fireware I have found that when I access the map screen it doesn't remember the last zoom scale. i.e If it was last set to 100yrds it forgets this and will be zoomed right out to 300miles. Not sure when it does this but can only guess at it being when the car he been turned off.
Only seems to have done it since the update. Has anyone else had or seen this issue and is there a fix?
Cheers :happy2:
-
What update were you on and what have you gone up to? Did the update finish correctly or with an error?
-
I believe I was on 3970 and went to 4120 on a Rev H. And yes everything update correctly with no errors.
-
And when you turn it on it's always zoomed right out to 300 miles? Does it lose position and reset to Regensburg?
And, have you set the zoom to Auto?
-
Mine does this too. Bloody annoying when its showing you the entire uk and part of europe! :stupid:

It seems to pick and choosed it again earlier and it had gone to 200yrds from 100yrds. Need to do more testing to see if there is any consistency. I wasn't aware of the auto zoom but had a look earlier and that was definitely off. Position wise it is fine. Doesnt seem to suffer from Regensburg syndrome.

It's known firmware bug. You might try to solve it by upgrading to josi's modified firmware 5238.

I get this to since updating to 11 maps

I have a DAB RNS510 with map version 7918, SW version 5218 and my map zooms out mysteriously when it's previously been set at a local view. Does anyone have an idea how to stop this?!
Thanks

As above, you haven't got the zoom set to Auto, have you?
-
Hmm. That is a very good question! I'll take a look when I'm back in the car later. I dont think I knew about this setting so many thanks!

Had the opportunity to play with my RNS 510 this evening whilst stuck in a monster traffic jam due to a diversion off the A3!
I couldn't find Auto zoom function on RNS510 - any pointers?
Thanks

On the "Maps" screen on the bottom right hand side where it tells you the altitude, is there a small letter A in a circle next to it? That signifies Auto Zoom. Touch the Altitude display and it'll change to a large letter A, touch this to turn Auto on and off.
-
Thank you! I'll check shortly. In most other ways the RNS510 is pretty great although it didn't tell me about the huge traffic jam & diversion last night we encountered on the A3! Resurfacing apparently.
I'll put up my zoom findings later. Thanks again.

This isn't an issue with the autozoom. I've tried that. I believe it's a bug in the 4120 firmware. I just need to find out what other firmware I can go to.

I had this issue and it was driving me :pomppomp:
I changed my firmware and instantly no more issues so it looks as thou there might be a little gremlin in the firmware :indifferent:
-
What rev unit and firmware you running @V2 FAN (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9414)?
-
My rev c running v11 maps & josi 5238 firmware is having the same problem
-
Annoying isn't it. I'm thinking of going back to 3970 with V10 maps. I can live without radio text.
-
Try just going to maps V10 or to firmware 4120 modified. There are newer firmwares that solve this issue but I don't know a good link to them. One is 5274 modified. My version P fortunately doesn't have this issue with 5238 modified and V11 maps.
Cheers

I went to V10 maps on the 3970 firmware and was ok. Went to 4120 not having the issue. I'm still on the V10 maps. I did a little research and found a firmware version that was supposed to be good for most units. Cannot remember what it was now though as I get fed up of looking.

I've not had any zoom issues with firmwares I've loaded...
-
Just as an update on this, I have returned back to 3970 this weekend and the map zoom issue seems to have sorted itself. It also retained the radio text function.
-
(...) It also retained the radio text function.
That was lucky! :surprised:
-
My map is always in night mode when the light are on auto really annoying.

Just to make sure I understood, your map is on night mode even when your lights are off but you have the headlight switch on auto function?
I know you can select the mode in the settings, but mine just go to night mode when my lights turn on.
-
Lights off >> Map Day Mode.
Lights On auto >> Map Night Mode (Headlights and dash lights are off as its sunny)
When i first installed it i'm sure it worked properly.

Weird stuff. Have you tried changing the settings on the Setup menu to see if it syncs back to normal?
-
I've not touched any of the settings. I will give it a go.

That's what I thought but for me getting the zoom issue sorted outweighed the radio text function. It has also retained the Autozoom aswell. Not sure if that was a featured added to later firmwares.
I did find that updating the firmware changes which model you have. Mine started out as a Rev H, and with the 5274 went to a Rev P. Now its a Rev F :signLOL:

I've just discovered this thread a couple of days ago and was surprised to discover that the odd map zooming issue is a "thing"!
When I bought my CC I bought a new Dab RNS510 to replace the 315 that was already in the car.
I noticed within a couple of days the odd zooming issue and its negged me out ever since.
My trouble is that the Dab unit uses different software to a normal RNS so if anyone has a link to better firmware for the Dab unit, please share it as I would be most grateful.

Do you know what firmware you are on at the minute? The 5274 firmware I tried was a DAB firmware and that suffered the same issue.

DAB is supported since firmware 5238, which is what makes it different from 4120. You can try installing 5274 or newer, that came out to fix the zoom issue.
Only RNS-510 with SSD (since R version) have a different firmware that is not compatible with previous versions.

Well, I believe mine is supposed to be an SSD version....... I think it's best I go and check!
-
So, I've checked my car.......Can anyone shed any light on this?

You have a RNS-510 with a SSD, indeed. You need to contact or get a newer firmware version or a factory fitted version (if yours isn't) to try to solve that issue.
Try contacting Eddie-NL, he might know how to help you.
