Only thing I dislike with this car, its flat as a witches tit below 2000 revs.
GT Sport TDi 140 BKD, very well maintained, full history, recently serviced, no fault codes.
It will accelerate from standstill to 2000 with no issues but it seems like there is no power before 2000 revs, soon as you go above 2000 it goes like a bat out of hell, annoying in the wet because you pull away quite humble then get a burst of power and its spinning its wheels, traction lights flashing etc
Worst part is down gearing, say your driving in 4th, slow down to turn off into a side street, my old mk4 you could bang it in 3rd and it could drop to 1500 revs and still pull away up to speed again, with this car, its always second, and you have to be quick about it, because as soon as it drops below 2000 you can literally foot to the floor on the accelerator, and theres a delay and then its off again.
Just doesnt like accelerating below 2000 revs in simple terms.

Has it had a remap?
What was in your mk4? I feel the PD130 felt nippier around the doors than the PD140.

No its not been mapped, standard one owner jobby from new, 56 reg could eat your dinner off it inside and out its that clean just seems flat and unresponsive at below 2k revs
Had a PD115 in my Golf that had been remapped to around 150bhp, went like a stabbed rat turbo pulled from 1500 right round to 3750 revs, did the headgasket in the end. This is the dilemma, id like to get mine remapped, but its already got a whiney turbo, there is a r tech near me but someone told me to avoid them for diesels as all theyl do is wind the fueling/timing up and itl go like stink but smoke like f*ck and eat turbos and clutches. Not sure what to do !
The bkd in standard form are gutless below 2 revs and a remap is the only answer. .R tech on a diesel are excellent and don't smoke.When Nick did mine he checked the turbo first for whines etc,something he doesn't do is just put the fueling up and boost and give you the car back...
If you go down the remap road make sure boost pipes have no leeks and get the turbo checked out

I had a BKD for four years, mapped for most of them.
Replaced a whiney turbo with a new Garrett one for it to end up the same (just a whine), DMF went at 68k. These need replaced anyway in standard form eventually.

Mines on 97,000 , had cambelt done at 65000 ish
On original clutch/flywheel I believe as no paperwork and its got paperwork for every other thing
Turbo just makes that siren noise as the revs drop and it returns to idle, irritating.
Who is best for diesel remaps? Im in Leicestershire.

my 2008 bkd is standard 1st gear is useless but get it out of second & its a different story. the one main thing i did on mine was replace the crap budgets for decent bridgestone potenza tires & that made a huge difference in both cutting wheel spin & general feel plus mine is having the solid audi tt console bushes next week.

It does sound like the EGR valve is stuck open slightly as far as I know these are vacuum controlled so wouldn't always give a fault code

Any decent remapping company/person would turn you away with a siren turbo. Wouldn't be worth the hassle WHEN it went pop

The stock car is best summed up in the above sentence - tends to please women drivers for town driving,was the answer I was given when I asked the question when moving from MKIV PD130.
Get the vehicle scanned and check all the hoses but I'm certain that's just the animal you've got and the remap route is the solution :happy2:

Can I just pull the vacuum hose off it and bung it up to see if it makes any difference?

well ive pulled the vac hose to the EGR off and bunged it up. either its psychological but it seems so much better, i can turn off main roads into side roads in second gear and pull away without having to put my foot flat to the floor and waiting 5 - 10 seconds... no warning lights come on though?

rtech are very good at mapping diesels and won't just turn the fuel and boost up and give you the car back. .Nick refers diesels to darkside developments
The bkd run better after a remap but get the turbo checked out first

It whines, they all seem to do it, pulls like a train though so nothing wrong with it. will pay them a visit only up the road.
