I've recently replaced the auxiliary belt as it was squeaking a lot when cold not constantly just when you hit the gas.
The tensioner seemed good but i'm still getting a squeak now and then. Any suggestions?

Test the alternator clutch pulley

I think you might be right on the money with that one. The pulley will not move when i lock it with a screw driver.
Ive seen two types from INA
Metal 30.76
Plastic?? 54.60
Any big differences in these apart from the price?

The INA one I put in was about £30 from GSF a couple of years ago, and it's metal.

thanks again for getting back to me. I'll order the one for 30 the dealership wanted €98. Even with the shipping to Spain i'll still be saving a bit of cash.
Now i need the thing to remove it whats the best option?

I already have a T50 so should i just buy the 33 tooth adapter separately?

I saw a video and they removed it with a impact wrench. So if im not using an impact wrench the T50 needs to go through the centre of the 33 tooth piece?

I have done it both ways on my Golf's, the impact gun method being easiest. Yes the torx needs to go through the splined socket, it needs a bit of leverage to get it off hence why that tool is useful, but you could make it work otherwise.
By the time you buy a splined soocket with a hex end to get a spanner on it, you may be close to the price of buying the complete tool.

I have an electric impact wrench which saved my bacon when removing both front cv joints. But i doubt it will fit. I will buy the complete tool i suspect the T50 i have with adaptor will not fit through the splined socket. Thanks again for your help i will let you know how i get on.

So the tool and part arrived today.
5 Minute job i thougth.
As usual i was wrong the T50 has snapped. The end is stuck in the nut.
What now remove the alternator and try impact wrench?? :sad1:

So i removed the alternator tried the impact wrench no joy.
Nipped out and bought another T50 "had to buy a complete set" :sad1:
Snapped the T50 again. :sick:
Tried again with the impact wrench. This time i spun its clockwise then counter clockwise hoping the jolt would loosen it up. After about 4 attempts it came off.
Now i have to get the broken T50 out and put the car back together. Probably will have to buy another T50 so i can get the correct torque on it.
Any tips for getting the T50 out?

My R32 was squeaking when idling, turned out it was the water pump bearings!
Pump was replaced, noise gone (56k miles)

Well that was a pain. Probably the longest Clutch Pulley install ever. Every time i attempt to work on my car nothing goes as expected.
Hopefully the squeak is gone.
I was not sure on the torque for the 2 alternator bolts and 3 bolts for the tensioner. If anyone has these it would be great.

All bolts mentioned are to be torqued to :- 23NM

Thanks mate. The hanes manual said 25nm for the alternator it seemed to low.
