Title: torque app
Post by: mac456 on August 12, 2014, 02:43:26 pm
Hi,

Does anyone use this app on their mk5 golf gti? I am considering trying it out so I can find what the boost psi my car is making

What do I actually need to get this working on the golf?

Thanks

A better app is dash command, you have to pay for it but it's worth the coin  :happy2:

i brought the torque app and the Elm 327 Bluetooth plug in 2 weeks ago for the exact same reason... to check my boost.

its ok, fairly accurate but not as good as a direct plug in using Vag Com.

my boost spiked around 12 psi which I think is about right, all in all cost me around £8 for the app and mini Elm 327.

you can also read fault codes if your engine management light comes on, it does all sorts just have to play around with it.

Great for fault codes and clearing them, but the bhp is way out. All the other functions seem fine.

Used it on my way home, plugged it in while driving so dont think it configured correctly as it said I was boosting at 21 psi haha

I've had the torque app and obdii for a few years now and it's worked fine up until I got an iPhone 5s and it crapped out.

Am I missing something with connection or has my adapter finally kicked it?

I've used Torque for ages on all my OBD2 cars - Octavia VRS, Beetle 1.8T and my Edition 30. Works really well! Boost is pretty good precise wise, just make sure you set it up correctly for the atmospheric pressure! My VRS read pretty much bang on for PSI to the map it had.

To say it costs around £8 quid like Muff1991 said it is definitely worth it! Even for the money it's saved me in reading fault codes and friends fault codes! The rest of the stuff is just a bonus!

Just in case anybody is having the same problem connecting their iPhone. (May only be with newer iPhones)

iPhone will not work with ELM 327 OBDII by Bluetooth unless it is jailbroken.

You can connect if you purchase an ELM 327 OBDII with wifi connection.

Carista is a nice little app to, it can reads fault codes from the whole car not just the engine, and also can perform a couple of  adaptions like lock/unlock when car is moving.

Will this clear an airbag light? I'm going to have to go off and buy VCDS aren't I?

Ok I've gone ahead and got my old galaxy s3 out.

Went and purchased pro app

It's terrible!! It connects only 1 in 100 times.

I've gone through all troubleshooting but in the end I'll just scan 100 times and it might just work once.

Has this happened to you?

I emailed them there to ask for advice.

This has happened both on my car and my gfs golf 1.4 mk5

Just checked my scangauge and it does read boost pressure along with 18 other engine gauges/read outs!

Scangauge e around £70 and can be mounted on dash to monitor stats at all times along with read/reset faults etc

The torque app is working with S3 no problem but not connecting at all with Carista!

All I want is to remove this accidental airbag light!

Carista worked first time for me,
Email there support as I have found them very helpful when I had a few questions with my Audi A4.
