Well in over 20 years of cutting the hedge, today i finally made the school boy error of cutting through the cable :rolleye:
Fortunately i wasn't anywhere near full revs and there was no drama. I'd also finished cutting the hedge and was just doing the final touch-up trimmings
I could get it fixed but it seems a good excuse for buying a more powerful superduper new one :jumping:
Anyone got one that they think is the bee's knees and would readily recommend? Are cordless ones up to the task - will save any potential embarrassment in the future :ashamed:

I have a phillips one for the most part and it works really well.
Just be sure to use lots of nice foam...
Have had no issues with the trimming of hedges even if I do try to make it look like a duck.

When a man is faced with the prospect and justification of buying a petrol powered tool, he buys it.
I run mine on Momentum 99 too as I just fill the jerry can when doing the car.
I got one from Aldi (end of season) for £45 and it is brilliant for the price. So much so that I used it instead of a chainsaw trying to tame the hedges of my new house.
